Hi - since Sjogren's affects our eyes, I'm curious to see if others drive at night, limit their driving at night, or don't drive at night due to Sjogren's and our dry eyes.
I usually put eye drops in before driving at night and on the occasions where I forget, I can tell a difference.
The blue oncoming headlights really bother my eyes at night.

I have always seen halos. Over the last 40 years I have reduced my night driving. I prefer to be in bed at night.
A few years ago I had to start wearing sunglasses when I drive at night. I also
Pull the sun visor down. I cannot take the glare of the street lights original headlights of cars.
It's like looking into the sun.

Dear Bucky,
Alas, I no longer drive. It never occurred to me that my eye dryness might be why the 'glare' at night was always a problem. All of my life I was bothered by night time glare, and if there was rain the glare was unbearable. And this was BEFORE I had dry eyes, which I didn't develop until age 60.
So I can't answer the survey.
Hugs, Elaine
Same here..I have a very difficult time driving at night. It feels like every car is blinding me with their bright lights on.
I blogged about it a long time ago: https://sjodry.wordpress.com/2013/09/03/the-eyes-have-it-tunnel-vision/
I have cut back on any outing in the evenings that might require me to drive.
Take Care.

I don't see halos but some of the new headlights can be really bright. I try not to drive at night but have had to occasionally. Driving in my own town and area is usually ok so I do drive to Walmart etc. Irish
I saw some glasses advertised around the holidays made specifically to reduce the glare at night and improve night vision. I know I need some. Sometimes when we travel, we will get held up in traffic and have to drive an hour or so after dark. I don't like it at all. I can see but not as well as when I was in my 20's, so it makes me a little uncomfortable.
I am frightened to drive at night now, I see long rays of light coming at me from headlamps. Also I find it difficult to tell how far off a car is by just looking at a couple of headlamps in the dark. I have no idea if all this is Sjogrens related, however.
I am glad to see this post, Bucky. I have had night blindness in my right eye since my early 50s. I see nothing at all when walk from light and into a dark room, for several minutes. My ophthalmologist explained that it was a result of the dryness of my eyes.
Living way up here in Canada, it can be dark before 4:30 pm. Makes for a small window of opportunity as far as driving safely, in the winter months anyway. Summer is a different story!
