Good Morning from the uk.
I have been taking Mycophenolate (Cellcept) for two or three years successfully.....blood tests every two months all ways normal.
Now I have Breast cancer for the second time (opposite breast) and have had a mastectomy. I had a slight wound infection treated with antibiotics which wasn't helped by me being immunosuppressed.
Next month I start Chemo and wondering if anyone knows if you stop taking Cellcept to prevent being doubly immunosuppressed ? I'm sure my new Oncologist will know but I haven't seen her yet.
Meanwhile I am getting myself in a state.
Has anyone been in the Cellcept/ Chemo situation and how did it work ?
I would be very grateful for any help ! Thank you.
Hi Jane, I am sorry to hear about your reoccurrence of breast cancer. I am a breast cancer survivor also, one year out. I wasn?t on Cellcept, but my doctors stopped my plaquenil, I had AC chemo and most of my sjogren?s symptoms improved, kidney function, joint pain, etc. My dry eyes got worse. My guess is they will stop the cellcept since the chemo most likely will suppress your immune system.
Take care.
Thank you Rabbit. That's what I thought might happen... but you have confirmed it.
Oh dearest Jane and Rabbit,
I was busy complaining about my 'wonky' or even absent sense of taste, and then I read your posts and realized what is really important!
I wish you both success in dealing with your breast cancer. Thank goodness there are better treatments coming along every day. Still, it sucks, even with 'better treatments'.
Hugs, and love for 2018, Elaine
Thank you Carolina. I have a lively imagination so this is a bit of a trial for me !
