Title: Throat / Airway issues
Post by: katie3 on November 01, 2017, 04:42:03 AM
Good morning All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions / ideas/ input ..... My biggest struggle is burning dry throat and airway.. is how I could describe it... The Drs kind of look at me like I'm either imagining this or crazy.. I think because Ive seen so many specialists (and they know it because of  My Chart .. even just breathing quietly through my nose or talking for a couple mins. Honestly excruciating... Ive been to 2 ENT s and they say.... use saline rinse / spray etc.... which I do and does not do anything.....  it is truly painfully breathtaking.....   I was swabbed for thrush on my tongue and it was negative.... Ive been taking Exovac / Salagan total 8 weeks...... this happens even with my humidifiers going strong............. Quite concerned and scared..  I don't want to come off as a whiner..... I am a pretty tough gal.. this whole thing is effecting talking.. breathing daily...  I have ANOTHER ENT apt Nov 14...... I'm concerned that I'm not being taken seriously but also concerned that maybe the other ENTS are right that really they have no other suggestions...... wondering if anyone has experience with this or suggestions.........

Katie

Water. I go through 64-98 oz per day but I do not drink it. I sip it, then swish it in my mouth, then swallow. I do this all day and all night. It helps remove the dry pain in my nose, mouth and throat.

Find a pulmonary doctor. I have to take albuterol for asthma, etc and I finally asked for saline to put in this nebulizer and my airway doesn't hurt anymore. When we get so dry our chest feels like it s bruised and on fire. They can't see it, but we can  feel it. You could use a nebulizer with just the saline. the doc could order the small portable nebulizer which is cheaper and easier to handle. Don't need other meds with it.

Then, buy a facial sauna and and use distilled water in it. A couple of times a day heat the water and breath the warm moist air to moisten your airways. This is great.

Also, take guaifisen tablets to help increase the mucus in your mouth and airway. Talk to the pharmacist or your doctor about what dosage to use.  Then, the weird thing I do......I wear a surgical mask many nights while I sleep. I get the 20 in a box for about 3$ at Walmart. This sort of makes you breath moisture into the mask and you rebreath the moisture when you take a breath. You also expel the old air and breath in new air pretty much. I have done this for years and it helps. Good luck, Irish
