Title: ear ringing and noise sensitivity
Post by: trc1962 on October 27, 2017, 06:54:37 PM
A couple of weeks ago my right ear started kind of buzzing, but not really bad, just irritating. A few days later though my right ear began ringing loudly and my ears became very sensitive to sound-had to turn my cellphone super low. That night I turned over in bed and had a terrible bout of what I call the spins - vertigo I guess. I began to sweat and felt like I might vomit but didn't. I made an appointment with my primary and he said my ears looked normal, no fluid behind that he could see. Anybody have anything like this or know what it might be or what might cause it? My thyroid is low (t4) but I can't take the thyroid medication until my cortisol is near normal levels and that wouldn't cause the ear thing. Any ideas are appreciated.

Could be Meniere's disease. If I were you, I'd make a appointment to see an ENT as soon as possible and tell the receptionist your symptoms to see if you can get an expedited appointment. If it's Meniere's, you need to catch quickly as it could lead to permanent damage.

Time to see an ENT and as soon as possible. You could also have a virus or an increase in autoimmune issues. Frequently prednisone is needed to calm things down. ENT is the only doc to see. Irish

Thanks for your answers and I am thinking the same, that an ent is needed asap. I am having a flare of autoimmune right now and I suppose it is related. It is just shocking what new things come up out of the blue with autoimmune disorders.

I also developed ringing in the ears when my SS symptoms started.

Strange enough, I also started becoming aware of background noises that I never noticed before like ticking clocks and noises from the central heating system. Has anyone else experienced this?
