Title: Autologous serum eye drops
Post by: Sharon on October 23, 2017, 02:39:43 PM
Anybody using these drops?
They're made with your own blood.
In dry eye forums they are seeing amazing results with these!
Wonder if they would work for us?

(Nothing I've tried so far has helped me including Restasis and plugs)

I haven't personally used autologous serum eye drops, but my ophthalmologist mentioned that other SS patients she sees have found success with them. The SS Foundation has a page on it (http://info.sjogrens.org/conquering-sjogrens/topic/serum-tears), and at least one study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27815483) has found beneficial results. If my dry eye symptoms weren't well-controlled with Restasis and Xiidra, I would certainly look into it.

Many thanks WhatYouSjo!
These drops are a pain to have prepared (every 5 weeks in a hospital far from the city)
and are expensive, but I'm getting desperate enough to consider it!
