Title: High BP
Post by: Scottietottie on October 06, 2017, 08:06:59 AM
Hi - my BP is running high and I'm just wondering how high to let it run before doing something about it.

My GP is aware of the situation. I don't want to take meds if I don't need to. We are trying lowering the thyroid meds as my pulse is also running high.

I have a blood test scheduled next week to see what my thyroid numbers are and a GP appointment the week after that.

Pulse is lower than it was but the BP appears to be continuing to rise. Today it's 159/103. Wondering if I should be waiting 2 weeks to see the GP again.

Any advice?
Thanks - Scottie  :)

In the US the docs want the top number below 140.....at least the doctors who still think that way. So many of the younger docs think it should be much lower. The bottom number should be around 80. The 103 is high. My hubby had high bps and his lower number was tough to control. He ended up on meds at age 40 and was on small dosages of 3 different meds in later years. They often give smaller dosages of several drugs to control pressure and decrease the side effects.

Hope you can figure this out. Sometimes they can give meds that lower the bp and the pressure at the same time. Good luck. Irish
