Hi,
It seems from what I've read, that Sjogren's patients get frequent sinus infections and it seems to me that if I eat sugar, I will have a bad one. I have SIBO too so try not to eat a lot of sugar but sometimes I give in and wind up with a doozy of a sinus infection. I also have heard that sugar lowers your immune system. Does anyone else notice a correlation with food and sinus infections?
I also found out that taking antihistamines made my sinuses inflamed.
I have a bad one right now and ate some caramels right before it began. I also have mold allergies. So I'm not sure if it's the sugar working with the mold allergies or if it's just the sugar lowering my immunity that is causing the sinus infections.
I just came back from the doctor, and now realize that sinus infections trigger migraines, in me at least.
They do in most people.
Hayley3,
I am unaware that sugar contributes to sinus infection. Having said that, I am prone to sinus infections and I do eat sugar.
None of my doctor?s have ever told me this. I have an upper respiratory/ sinus infection right now😫.
It sucks😞
Kathy
I eat sugar and don't have sinus infections. I am prone to ear infections, but there seems to be no relationship to sugar. More about congestion leading to block eustachian tubes.
But we're all so different.
