Title: acne from thyroid med (at 54)
Post by: trc1962 on September 06, 2017, 04:59:51 PM
So sorry, but more thyroid questions for those here who have good knowledge of this. I am on a super low dose of thyroid med and though it has helped my skin and given my hair more body, it has also made my hair oily and this morning I woke up with some acne cysts on my face - I didn't ever have acne even as a teenager. What is going on with my body? I am having low blood sugar and the I get so itchy. It is so frustrating and I still want to lay down on the floor at times and just sleep, at other times I am okay. Anybody have a theory? My primary said I needed a testosterone shot as  my testosterone and cortisol were low...no thanks. I have felt for many years I am insulin resistant but doctors say it isn't possible as I am thin and athletic so no test. Any thoughts?

Don't you have a similar thread started that is the same as this. I thought that you were going to the endocrinologist and get things straightened out. I am thinking this is a repetitious post. Just wondering. Irish

Are you on Synthroid?

Twice the doctors tried to give me Synthroid and my body reacted in a weird way. Bloating, weight gain, puffiness...felt "off."

My doc said she has seen it before. Synthroid is known to have gluten in it and a slight amount of something else that some people might be sensitive to (I can't recall...maybe a preservative or coloring or something like that).

I got my T4 compounded and am doing fine now.

Just something to think about.

I am taking armour thyroid, originally 30 mg cut to 15mg. I do have an endo apt in Seattle next week but just trying to find answers until then. I appreciate the forum and the information available.
