Title: Lipomas anyone?
Post by: gurs on August 31, 2017, 04:15:37 AM
Ahhhhh..new probably just popped up.....literally! I had a small, what I guess would be a lipoma on my chest and it never really bothered me. Last week I developed a sinus infection which Im still dealing with and I woke yesterday to find this thing all swollen up? I also had a tiny one on my thigh that is now swollen, and another I just found under my arm? they were never painful before either? what the heck is going on. I feel extremely sick from my sinus infection still, but wonder why these are just now inflammed? trying to get in to see the doc, but they are all so busy. I know they must be inflammation of some sort..any of you with these things have them swell up?

Never tried a Z-pac either...I have good luck with Erythryomycin, wish I could take that one.

thanks

i have many lipomas!!!they came up in the last few years, they do not bother me, unless one that grew in a muscle of my back. they told me that it would be complicated  to take it off if it becomes bigger because its in the muscle. i was afraid that these things were related to sjogren but they said no.... my mother had some and some friends of mine also.

hi ladies.

I have small lipoma's for years on my upper and lower arms, front of my thighs
buttocks. Have lots of them.....can see the outline of them on my inner forearms.

I had a large one on my lower back area that was slightly painful to pressure, as in
laying down on the mat and doing sit-ups. I had outpatient surgery to remove it.

Look up Dercums Disease, Anders disease or adiposi aldorosa 9sp).

Take pictures of all of them so the swelling can be seen. By the time we get into a doctor we often have things improve or get smaller and it doesn't get as much attention as it should. Irish

Yes, good idea Irish..So strange. The one on my chest was always hardly noticeable, but Ive been very sick with a virus, flare, or whatever is going on. Strange how now its red and it hurts? anything is possible with us/me I guess. Im going to my derm on wednesday. She is very good on this stuff. Her mother had Scleroderma.

I just felt it again, and it feels like it has fluid in it, maybe its just a cyst that needs to be drained?

Always something!!

Are these tissues  lymph tissue? Will be interesting to see if they are biopsied out as lymph tissue. Irish

Hi  :)

I have lipomas either side of my spine at the bottom of my back. The odd thing is - they seem to change size. When they grow I get really bad back pain and it eases off as they shrink. My GP has said they ARE lipomas.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Ok, not good news. Went to the derm today and she kinda freaked. Turns out that I may have Staph/strep/MRSA going on? are you kidding me? The one on my chest turned into cyst, which she biopsed out, but said it probably is infection from way it looked, and prob caused from my sinuses-infection. I have been feeling very ill, but you know, I always feel sick so its hard to tell if its infectious or not.
She wants me on Z-pack starting tonight, and then another doc appt tomorrow with my internist. I never in my life had anything like this,
not to mention how my gastroparesis/systemic yeast will fair on these antibiotics. I never run fevers either, never did. My One doc told me that alot of autoimmune patients dont run fevers even though they have infections. I swear these diseases are just plain evil. Im just hoping we catch all this in time and I dont end up in the hospital. She said she wont get the biopsy back for almost a week.

I am glad you got some action on those tissues. I was concerned about them the way you described them. Hope they respond to the medication. Good luck and keep us updated Irish

I went and saw my internist on thursday..he is really smart. Explained everything to me etc. Decided to take Omnicef because i had taken it before, and said we will wait if the lab shows MRSA, then its Biaxan I guess? I started the Omnicef and it dried me out so bad. I feel so much worse!!! My gastroparesis is horrible now..Ughhhhhh. Going to try the Zpack tomorrow to see if it is better on me. I had great luck with Erythroymcin before, but never took Azithromycin, so Im curious.

He also said that since Ive been feeling bad all summer, I prob had it in my system. Might not have anything to do with my sinuses.
Can pick up staph anywhere. Been learning alot. Hoping it doesnt come back MRSA.

any suggestions appreciated!

How scary!   Glad you're looking into further.

I have A lipoma. Just one!  It appeared on my upper arm about 4 or 5 years ago.  It never hurt, it never discolored, it never grew (although it must have been there and was smaller before I noticed it) and I just watched it.  After a number of those years, I finally asked a doctor...a dermatologist.  She explained they were benign, and all the favorable stuff that is said about a "pop up growth" and ended with "we can remove it. Well..it's over two inches in diameter.  I told her I'd pass...and she said she'd watch it.

Just saying, in general they are nothing.  Again...glad you are looking after your "pop up".

Ok, need some major help and advice. Doc called yesterday and said culture showed no bacteria? say what? it was green? she said that sometimes hair follicles can produce this etc. Ok, guess that is good news, but still sicker than a dog. Going to see my rheumy tomorrow to see if she can figure out what is going on. Then, my ENT on thursday. Wondering if I have some shingles/herpes type virus going on. My nerve pain all over is unbearable, have had a blister in mouth for a week. So much pain and pressure in my head, pushing on my teeth, making it unbearble to eat anything hard..no appetite at all. My one cyst never came to head but hurts, evidentally, my body is just flipping out. Need to also find a good infectious disease doctor. Labs never show anything anyways.

Im miserable....never had anything like this before. Losing more and more hair. Wish me luck!

are you taking pilocarpine, evoxac, etc?  I never had sores (but for fungus---thrush) but I had horrid "burning tongue" for well over two years before dx.

I don't know.

Oh, this is such a nightmare. Been feeling sicker and sicker..finally went to my rheumy and she just shaking her head..such a mystery.
She ran some labs and few came back. Noticed my SED rate is elevated, which is never is, and my RH factor is almost high at 20, which its usually around 8. My WBC came back at 9.1, and though its not high, its high for me. Waiting to see what my other tests show. We did run some viral testing too and fungal panel. I cant eat and lost 5 more pounds. Getting very scared. I have burning neuropathy so bad all over my body, and my headaches are crazy. Joints wont move and dizziness just horrid. Hoping it might be just an autoimmune flare, but who knows. I have another cyst that hoping would come to a boil, and we decided to have my internist culture it again to make sure first testing was correct in my no Staph/MRSA diagnoses..labs can be wrong. Went to the ENT yesterday and he didnt see anything out of ordinary, but then again, he cant see in upper area etc. My other ENT sticks the scope up in there, but he wasnt available. I had fungal infections severe before so Im hoping I dont have one of these either..sorry to ramble guys..Im at my wits end.
