Title: Persistent Itching
Post by: susanep on August 22, 2017, 10:39:05 PM
Does anyone here have persistent vaginal itching? I have used twice now Monistat for this, but it doesn't do a thing. I don't have any type of white discharge, but do have at times like a buildup of flaking. It has even spread to my bottom area. Sorry, about being so graphic, but I don't know any other way to say it.

I have finished a course of antibiotics for a kidney infection, but I have had this for months now not connected to any meds unless it's some of my regular meds for sjogren's or lupus such as the plaquenil.

I do plan to bring it up to my nurse practitioner when I go back in case I need further help with this.

I do have diabetes, and I had let it get way out of control, but for awhile now I am back watching it eating low carb only.

Thanks for reading this, and for any input anyone might add.

You will probably need to see your NP and have a culture done. You most likely have a yeast infection of some kind. You have been on antibiotics for infection and they are good at kick starting these yeast infections. Diabetics are extremely prone to have yeast or bacterial vaginal infections because of the higher blood sugar that we often have.

It would not surprise me if you have both a yeast and a bacterial infection and will need several types of medication. It is miserable that is for sure. Good luck.
