I have my appointment with the rheumy in Seattle on Wednesday and I am so glad. More questions though from those of you with thyroid issues. As I have come down to super low dose of prednisone my TSH has gone up; was 1.9 at the end of March and was at 7.98 in early June. I am unsure what t3 and t4 were on the last draw. Has any of you experienced a rise in testosterone or DHT with your thyroid off? I have dealt with hair loss for years, but it has been stable for a long time but now things have changed. My flushing returned, sweating and dermatitis is back and my hair is shedding, both tiny hairs and mature ones and my hair is slightly oily. I thought these were hyperthyroid symptoms? I should add the dr. here gave me synthroid and I would rather try the armour and he won't do that. The dr. in Seattle said she does prescribe armour for many of her patients so am waiting a few days and not taking the synthroid. I want to see where my t3 and t4 levels are before I start any med. Just frustrated with my skin and hair in general. Thanks for any input.
I wonder if some of your symptoms are from the prednisone and not the low thyroid?? Or hormonal Imbalance?? Just a thought b/c usually you will have dry skin and hair from low thyroid and also sjogrens can cause dry skin and hair. I have not experience any increases in hormones with my low thyroid as I am in menopause. I've never heard of that before. Maybe someone else will have an answer for you. I hope you feel better when you get some T3 and T4 from your meds.
