Hi,
3 months back i felt like smelling smoke when i put on the ceiling fan at night. When i blew my nose in morning, nothing would come out.
since last 1 month i have burning sensation in my nostrils even during day time. acne has formed at the entrance of my nostrils. So i guess these are all the early symptoms of dry nostrils?
Currently i am putting saline water spray once in 2 hours. Any suggestion of what do for dry nose during sleep? Will something like this work - 1mg.com/drugs/nasoclear-gel-334992
Any other suggestions to improve dry nose/nasal passage will help.
Thanks
My sinuses have been somewhat better since starting cevimeline. I use saline spray once in a while still (Arm and Hammer stuff in a little spray can), but rarely. When my sinuses were really bothersome, I was using Neilmed Nasogel at night.
I also use Arm & Hammer saline nose spray in a metal can. At night I use a humidifier by the bed which makes a big difference with nose and throat dryness. Sometimes I use a Vick's personal steam inhaler before bed.

I use saline nasal rinse wth a Neti pot twice per day. If the air and my sinuses feel especially dry, then I will use the saline rinse a third time, but that is only once in a while.
I sleep with a humidifier at my bedside, and use one for work, and I have a steam humidifier for the downstairs family room. I also use nasal sprays in between.
Occasionally I have used a thin coating of Aquaphor ointment inside my nose just to protect it, I do this if I go for a nice walk on a windy day. It helps to protect my horribly dry mucous membranes. I gently apply it with a clean dry q tip. Otherwise your nose can feel so dry and inflamed that if feels like it is burning!
I also drink lots of fluids. I have multiple nasal septal perforations caused by a disastrous surgery, and so I have to be very gentle with my irrigations and treatment.
Good luck to you!
Kathy
All the suggestions are good to make moisture in nose. However, I am wondering if you could be having an infection. The presence of acne in close proximetry to the nostrils and the sudden change in your dryness makes me wonder if you have noticed any other issues. It is hard to know what is going on sometimes when we have little to no mucus. Good luck.Irish
If you want to make your own saline, use 1 cup of water (boiled) and add 1/2 teaspoon of table salt. Buy a spray bottle from Amazon, & you're good to go. I actually prefer to use a curved syringe and do washings with the saline. This seems to work better.
