Well, I looked up this info really quick and see that I have this. I have 5 autoimmune diseases, one of which is a skin disease.
I have Sjogrens, Myasthenia gravis(reason for IVIG), Bullous Pemphigoid(skin), Hashimotos and Autoimmune Ear Disease. Irish
:D
Sjogrens Syndrome can be Primary, which is more common.
There can be multiple associations with this disease, including what other people have discussed.
I have Polymyopathy with my SS. Cranial nerve involvement, Peripheral Neuropathy as well.
My Rheumy calls this "Crossover Syndrome".
A more correct scientific name is "Undifferentiated Autoimmune Connective Tissue Disease."
The term "Mixed Connective Tissue Disease" is no longer used.
Vrystaat, that term Mixed connective tissue disease is still in use. I am diagnosed with MCTD with sjogren's. every doctor that I told I have high titres of anti rnp immidiatly responds with mixed connective tissue disease.
