Title: Which phenotype of Sjs are you?
Post by: Nymph on March 17, 2017, 02:51:13 AM
Sorry if someone already posted this abstract. I had it open on my browser and can't remember where I saw it!

http://acrabstracts.org/abstract/rethinking-primary-sjogrens-syndrome-stratification-by-clinical-phenotypes-to-improve-understanding-of-disease-pathogenesis-trial-design-clinical-management-and-prospective-health-gains/

I was able to see my own symptom pattern right away in the graph (LAD).

Where do your symptoms fall?

General Grant once said, "There's Lies, darn Lies, and then there's statistics." While the procedures in acquiring the data may or may not be the same, Sadistic's (yes, that is how I view statistics) have been applied to merge the data together from various sources.

In order to better understand something we often use differentiation and integration. Differentiation was used by the individual researchers and integration was used to assay their data in an attempt to find an arbitrary pattern.

Understanding that I think it is great that you found an interesting report. The challenge is the limited supply of individual data that we have on ourselves to identify how we fit into the data set. I would S.W.A.G. that I am DD. since I do not have relevant data to support that.

This one's easy for me, too.  I'm a HSB.  As far as anxiety and depression are concerned, I'm wondering which came first - the proverbial chicken or the egg?

Joe, absolutely. And it would take reading the entire article to analyze their methods. However, this is certainly not the first study to look for phenotypes and won't be the last. I find it interesting and helpful as the disease is being more widely acknowledged as so much more than sicca. Merging data leaves us with fewer specific conclusions but does have the capacity to highlight the strongest trends, which can help give direction to and inspire further research. That said, I posted this more for the fun of it and out of curiosity than anything else.

I appeared to be borderline DD/LAD according to the colour graph, but looking at the lab values pushed it firmly into the DD range. Now I want to know if there's a graph indicating the "marked differences in the potential health gains for these four clusters with important implications for clinical management, trial design and therapeutic development for pSS."
