ciao everybody since three dasys i have a terrible cold. no fever, just(just???) my nose completely closed and running. and the horrible thick mucous in the throat. so my question is. if i take antihistaminic it will dry running nose but also thick mucous that im trying to make thin with nac and mucinex. anybody takes some kind of cortisone when this horrible cold happens? thanks. cant eat cant sleep, one cannot believe that in 2017 they still not discovered something to get finished with a cold in few hours.
yes i wash my nose with saline solution, yes i make areosol, yes i make steam baths, yes i have humidifiers
thanks
I use my water sips to help me suck out the thickened mucus and spit it out. Normally, when it hits our stomach (intestines) it will trigger our immune system into action. Since my immune system is working overtime I have to find something else to help. I use tones. You can find some of my tones at www.chakraforce.com
Dearest Bluegardenia,
You are doing everything. And now, alas, you must wait to be better. This is true for everyone, even those without Immune Disorders and other difficulties.
I wish there were miracle medications for everything. Perhaps suffering will be a thing of the past one day. But I don't think that day will be soon enough for most of us.
Be kind to yourself, be patient. This is a time for patience. Perhaps you have something to help you sleep? Sleep is often my best option. But one cannot sleep all of the time, of course.
A darkened room with music playing? When it is too hard to read or even watch TV?
Sending healing hugs and kisses your way.
Regards, Elaine
I messaged you. Please check.
thanks everybody, i know that its just a cold.... but a cold for me means breathing with a dry mouth, more mucous, more difficult nights, more difficult to swallow.no evoxac or pilocarpine for me. ciao, here its really spring, flowers everywhere, too warm and too much light outside
but seems that we should be happy
I went through this kind of thing back in November with the flu, it went on for four weeks. As you say, you can't breathe through your nose and it's horrible trying to go to sleep breathing through a dry mouth. Last week I bought some Breathe Right strips, I haven't tried them yet but they are for next time I get a cold, I hope they work. You could try something like that?
So sorry to hear you're suffering bluegardenia...
Seems the SS makes everything worse.
When I begin to detect a cold I immediately begin taking 2 Paracetamol pills (500mg each pill)
every 6 hours. It helps prevent the cold from developing and if it has developed it helps somewhat
with the stuffy nose symptoms.
Medications with Pseudonepherine in them also really help unclog a stuffy nose!
Hope you find relief soon!
thanks, i tried lots of things. im afraid of the night, here is 1 am.
at the end i used small doses of anihistaminics, of cortisone, of paracetamole, i think the best for the nose is kind of homeopatic ointment that helped a lot for internal mucous membranes, its called homeoplasmine. but this night ill give a try to vicks sinex and i hope to sleep at least 4 hours!! thanks everybody for helping me with your suggestions, this also helps a lot
Hello, I use Gripp and Engystol both made by Heel. they're great combined.
You are doing what works. One thing you can do is sip on hot tea or hot water with lemon and sugar. The hot water with lemon and sugar really helps to loosen up mucus.
I had this cold about 10 days ago and when I had my IVIG on Tuesday at 2 PM I got another cold. It came on fast and I was miserable. I think it was the same cold I had before. Everyone says that this bug lasts for about 6 weeks and people just keep having increase and decrease of symptoms. Good luck. Irish
Sucking ono ice chips helps also with the throat dryness.
