I work in an office in which fluorescent lights line the ceiling.
I have extreme photosensitivity since the SJS began
and at the end of a work day at the office the skin on my face and chest area is reddish and sore
and my eyes hurt so much I need to sit in the dark for hours when I return home.
I do apply a high level broad sunscreen before leaving to the office but cannot apply throughout the day
as it is very time consuming and leaves my face greasy with need to constantly reapply makeup.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to dampen the effects of fluorescent lights?
I had other issues with fluorescents. I had on off switch in my office. I bought lamps and left flourescents off. It sounds crazy but it was sound and fickering. No one else heard or saw what I did. I had same reaction to fl lts in some stores. I had no fl lts in my home but I too left all lts off in my home except at night due to visual migraines. About a year after dx + meds I realized the sensitivities were gone but for migraine issue. One of my mess is LDP. The visual migraines are called several names. I never had skin reactions. My office was cold resulting in my covering my body year round. Good luck. c3

I can turn the fluorescents off, but since my office is a closed dark space with no window (and hence no natural light at all)
the lamps would have to be many and quite powerful.
Any suggestions for "friendly" but powerful lightbulbs?
Can you tell me what other symptoms the LDP helps you with?

I though maybe I was imaging things! my face, neck and upper chest turn red and my face burns after 3-4 hours under my office lights. they are hard wired to the main lights and I can't shut them off. they are also uncovered lights.

They are pricey though (I'd need many since the ceiling is covered with those darned lights)
and I'm certain I would have to foot the pay.
So good to know that's an option though if all else fails.
