Title: IBgard for stomach issues
Post by: engy on February 27, 2017, 02:07:07 PM
Has anyone tried IBgard?  My gastro. Has ordered a bunch of tests to figure out this horrible nausea but in the meantime he told me to try IBgard (peppermint oil in a capsule). I don't remember ever seeing a post about it.

I'm headed out to look for some now at Walgreens and will let you all know the outcome.

Hi engy, I've tried peppermint tea for GI upset and it did at times calm things down a bit.
However I've read that it can worsen acid reflux so I guess it depends what ails you.

Have you tried any ginger as in the cookies or some ginger tea?? I know that it can be hard to know just how much of some of these supplements or spices we should ingest. Hopefully the doc can get you more comfortable. So glad that your doctor is making this effort to find something to help you. Hang in there. Irish

I have tried IBguard, it is supposed to be helpful for IBS issues. Unfortunately it seems that peppermint oil actually triggers my IBS. Go figure. I had better luck with Iberogast.

I tried IBgard today and noticed that it was soothing but I also had more diarrhea.  I'm not sure there is a correlation there yet though.

I don't have heartburn or acid reflux (at least I don't feel it).

Irish, I am drinking ginger tea and it helps a lot!

My gastro. ordered a scope, an ultrasound, a gastric emptying test and tests for bacteria.  I scheduled them all within the next month.  I've had all of these tests done before but it's been about 7 years.  Maybe I'll get some answers?!

I have been able to eat toast, eggs, sweet potato, banana, peeled apple and chicken so far without too much distress.

I'm also taking Pepcid every morning.

Thanks for everyone's input and suggestions, you all put a smile on my face with your kindness  :)

I have peppermint tea when my stomach is upset. I did try peppermint capsules to help with IBS, but got tremendous reflux with them. Didn't last long enough on them to know if they helped with the IBS.
