Title: Anyone have heaps of hair loss?
Post by: Lotus1 on February 14, 2017, 03:19:48 PM
Hair loss has been a problem for me for years.
My hair must grow over night as I've still plenty of hair lol

Lately I'm losing more hair than ever, hair getting thinner.
It doesn't seem to matter what thyroid med dose I'm on re hair loss.

Radiation affected left side of hair so maybe it is now affection all over, who knows.

Anway, it is only a minor thing really, but am wondering if others have the same problem.

Yes, I have the same problem.  Very discouraging.  I think it may be both from the Plaquenil and possibly my anemia.  I am going to a hematologist on February 27 and my dermatologist said that once I get the anemia under control, I may see thicker hair coming back.  I hope so!

Yes. Every day I find a large clump in the shower. I haven't figured out why. Just another one of my mysteries. :-/

Hair loss can be a symptom of Lupus.

If you have not already mentioned it to your Rheumatologist, you may want to let him/her know.

My Rheumatologist asks me at every visit whether I am losing hair.

I think so long as I've still got hair I won't get too worried.

Yes, clumps in the shower, more when come hair.  Hair all over the bathroom floor & bits around the house.

Have to remember to clean the bathroom floor when staying in accommodation!!

I go through phases when this happens.

This seemed to happen to me recently. I keep my hair tied back at work (8-10 hours a day), and it was starting to feel like it was too tight, and pulling on my scalp...after a few months, I resigned and chopped it all off (I'm male).

It starts to become a bit of a sensory issue for me at times anyway, so I figure any chance of lowering my stress levels a bit is a chance worth taking.

I lost way too much hair while on Arava, so my rheum finally took me off of it.  I started losing it again recently for no known reason.  We always say we hate having an "invisible" illness, but not when it comes to having no hair!

Oh, dearest Lotus,

Anything that affects our hair negatively is NOT a minor thing!

Our hair means so much to each of us.

My hair is falling out because I took Depakote, only for a short time, but still I have some loss now.

It is painful to see, but I have lots of hair (but very fine and straight).  So I hope the hair loss stops now that I've stopped the Depakote.

Hair loss for women is very painful and we need to get very good hair cuts, if we wear our hair short, because that will help our hair look fuller and better.

Of course, I can't wear long hair, since it would just be scraggly.

Hugs,  Elaine

My hair has been falling out for two months now.  :(  It once used to be thick, but has partially fallen out every year for the last six years or so. I already had a big shed last summer so this is really not good... twice in one year. It's curly/wavy so that helps. Dry shampoo pumps up the volume at the roots. Just hoping it stops soon and starts growing back in. It's always a little crazy looking with kinky short hairs sticking up out of the longer hair. Pixie cuts are not great on me, either.
