Title: Flare and a cold?
Post by: belovedchaos1 on January 24, 2017, 09:17:18 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm still learning about this illness... there is still so much that is new to me. For instance my honey got a really bad cold and even though I've been taking care of him (while trying to avoid getting sick) - it seems I've caught it.

I was starting a flare before he got sick... so now it seems like double the symptoms. Do you guys have any advice? I'm already taking Vitmain C, D, B, Omegas, and a good probiotic. Thanks you guys.

My advice is to get plenty of rest and even take a nap if you can.  Good luck.  I hate getting sick because it just makes everything worse.

My husband is going through chemo right now and I am desperately trying to stay well to help him.

Kathy

I'm really sorry and sad to hear that Kathy. I'll keep you both in my prayers to a speedy recovery. Thank you also for the advice - I plan to do just that.

Hello,my advise is echinacea and selenium, plus all that you are taking, lots of fluids(lemonade is great) and rest. Also  an immune enhancer like Max Defense by Natural Wellness or whatever you can buy. I crashed, it was just sniffles but it sapped my energy.Had to rest. Get better soon.

Most websites, alternative health practitioners and (aware) medical doctors strongly advise against the use of echinacea in people with autoimmune disease, in fact, I've seen disclaimers on the packaging for any brands I've looked at.

Everyone seems to have their own cold and flu remedies, but personally, I've found zinc lozenges, hot tea (my cure for everything) and whatever preferred and tolerated pain med I use for aches and fever.

Of course strict handwashing, no sharing of linens, utensils or dishes, and lots and lots of paper tissues properly disposed of, are all important to prevent passing the bug back and forth.

I hope you both feel better soon.

Thanks guys! It's been going slow, but I'm getting there. I wasn't sure if the plaquenil would slow stuff down, but I have been taking Zinc lozenges and some organic 911 tea. You guys are amazing, I feel like I have another family on here.

The Cold-Eeze  zinc lozenges work good for me for a cold  if I take it right when I notice cold symptoms. But yes, it's miserable when I'm sick because everything gets more dry. Hope you feel better soon!

Garlic and horseradish tablets work really well for me. Taking them regularly helps me to avoid colds and flu, if i forget and get a cold it also helps me recover faster. All the best.
