For the ladies, are you guys wearing eye make-up? If so, what brand doesn't irritate your dry eyes?
I do best with Clinique since it's fragrance free.
Me too! Clniique works best for me.
Liz D,
Gave up on that about 2 years ago, as the tiniest speck in my eyes caused a lot of un-necessary discomfort. Sometimes I think about trying it again, but truthfully, it helps cut down on my time getting ready for work in the mornings.
Thanks ladies! :)
I am also Clinique only - and I like their "gets the red out lotion...not cheap but the only thing I can wear period.
I stopped using eye make up about a year ago due to how often I was using eye drops. They were messing up my make up or making it get in my eyes.
I use Bobbi Brown mascara...only one that doesn't flake off. It's pricey...but I don't wear make up everyday. (You did ask about eye make up didn't you?) I use a modicum of Body Shop eye shadow once in a blue moon..and brush off any excess. I remove with eye make up remover to make sure there is no residual left on my eyelids. I do not use eye liner anymore...it just proved too painful. The thing is, I am old. It does not bother me as much. If I were younger I would have my eyeliner and lashes tattooed/colored. I'd check with a doctor first that is.

Can I extend that comment and ask if any of you can recommend a good eye make up remover? Ive found having eye make up on (so long as its not a cheapo) can be Ok as long as Im not on a flare up and Im using eye drops regularly, but trying to remove it is a night mare!
Fi- Clinique also has a great eye makeup remover which moisturizes the eye area as it gently removes the makeup.
Trial and error and I use Maybelline for lashes.....
Lashes are the only real issue. I'm very careful and I take off makeup with baby oil.
I wear make up because 1) it is my 'armor' and 2) people take a woman with make up more seriously than one without make up.
Regards, Elaine
Oh my, how I miss it! I used to never leave the house without eyeliner and eye brows done. Other than that I would wear eye shadows when I was working and once in a while go into full make up mode. My skin was so "tough" I could slap anything on with out a problem!
My vision deteriorated to the point of having to wear my glasses from occasionally for fine print to full time. Optometrist explained that not having a normal tear film I was essentially missing another "lens". My eyes became severely sensitive to any make up. I always wore my eyeliner below my lashes. It didn't matter. When I started wearing eyeglasses full time I gave up since it was not as noticeable that my eyes were naked.
Once in the blue moon, for special occasions, I go into full makeup. Boy do I pay! Itchy burning, swollen eyes, skin on my face fit to be scraped off! I can't wait to take it all off!
I had worn mascara & eyeliner for 30 years when I was diagnosed with Sjogren's. My eyes are so irritated, dry & painful that makeup irritated my eyes and taking it off was painful.
Four months ago I got eyeliner tattooed along my lashline, top & bottom. BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE. I will admit it was terribly painful (I think Sjogren's sufferers have very sensitive eyelids, especially along the lashline which feels raw all the time). It was right up there with childbirth-like pain. But it only took a little over an hour. I wish I'd taken a pain pill beforehand, now that I look back. It cost $475. Four days later the swelling & redness disappeared.
What a timesaver! Now I don't wear eye makeup. So my morning routine is 10 minutes shorter. No more irritated eyes, no more struggling to find mascara that doesn't irritate my eyes, no more painful makeup removal every night.
And I don't have makeup that runs or smears. No more flecks of mascara irritating my eyes. I don't worry about rain or humidity. I always look naturally made-up, if that makes sense. It gives my eyes defnition - not as formal as mascara & eyeliner, but for a Scandinavian, it's nice to have a dark lashline to make my eyes stand out a bit more than going make-up free.
I hear that it might need touch-ups in 10-15 years, but I think it looks great and was well worth the agony & expense.
Yep, Clinique or Lorac for me. I use mineral make up on my face. Even some make up on my face will cause my eyes to burn. I use Dermalogica sensitive skin cleanser or BeautiControl cleanser. Gotta be for sensitive skin/hypoallergenic.
