I seem to be having close to fainting episodes more frequently. Standing up from a crouch, walking more than a mile or so, even just getting up from driving the car (especially in hot weather) can all bring on a ?spell?. I now walk with my cell phone in case I have to call my husband to pick me up. Is this common????
Historically I have had low blood pressure although at my last doctor visit it was actually higher than I have ever seen. My doctor was not impressed when I said this was unusual. I am usually 110/60 or so. It was a 130 or so which I found surprising.
I don?t think I am dehydrated. I am afraid of collapsing at the side of the road.
Hi Navigator,
I too have the near fainting, weak-like experience especially when the temperature is above 20 Celsius. Although my blood pressure has often been low in passed years, it is perfectly normal now. I think I am sufficiently hydrated as well.
I don't sweat though. This may be my cause, or so I am guessing. The other day I felt so awful that I had to lie down in the grass while I watched my granddaughters play, fearful I may pass out.
I guess I am no help really, but at least you know you have company.
It is good to know I am not alone. Of all the things that SJS has done this has had the most visible impact. I hide the rest from others...this ...I am reluctant to participate in things where I might just keel over.
Dear Navigator,
I often feel dizzy and feel faint when I stand up. I don't do anything outside in the heat and can't even walk a block, so I can't comment on that.
I've been tested for POTS and other blood pressure/heart related conditions and I don't have them.
It may be related in part to all the medications I take, that's true. But I think it is just one of those things.
I have to move very carefully, but that's never been my nature, so it is hard for me.
Keep us posted, Navigator.
Hugs, Elaine
I am only 62 and hope that someday I will have grandchildren. Of all the things that I have had to accommodate this fainting is the most visible.
That definitely sounds like POTS/autonomic Neuropathy. The first steps to treat it are to increase your salt and fluids intake. Compression stockings can also help but I personally can't stand them. There are some meds to treat it as well if all else fails
