Title: IRS Scam and a laugh to share with you.
Post by: quietdynamics on December 01, 2015, 08:09:38 AM
Good Grief...
So apparently a current scam is an outfit calling saying IRS has claim against you.. you will be arrested. Call back immediately, etc, etc, etc.

Huh???  :o
What??  ???

Mentioned this to Estate Attorney. Scammers find info that someone has passed. Got our hardline number.
Yes, IRS would never call and make threats.. but, gets the blood pumping. >:(

Last time they called I said "Give me your number!!!" and they hung up.

Haven't called in awhile..
So we just got a call and asked for DH..
in AGGRESSIVE VOICE.  I said "Who is this!"

Whoops.. DH has surgery coming up and it was Radiology for Cat Scan.  :-[

I apologized for the tone I used.. :)

So anyway.. there is an IRS scam currently going on.. sad how they prey on grief. Predators.

I recently purchased a product called DIGITONE Call Blocker Plus.

I get one phone call like the one I used to constantly get screaming HELLO SENIORS!  I press and hold program button for three seconds.  When it tells me to pick up the phone, I pick it up and enter the code 40 when it tells me to and the phone number I want to block.  You can check your blocked numbers list by pressing and holding the program button for three seconds and entering the code 41 when it tells you to.

QD-
My sister believed them when they called her and she called our dad and asked to borrow $5000. She told my dad she couldn't tell him what the money was for( the "agents" threatened her not to divulge any info).
My dad doesn't drive and he has me as his appointed person for legal, medical and banking issues.
He asked me to transfer the money.
I called my sister and asked her what it was for . I was going to send , it directly to where/who it was supposed to go.
She was sobbing as she told me.
I asked if she'd ever gotten any letters in mail from IRS . She said no she didn't and she had filed every year and always gotten a refund .
I told her to hangup and call IRS and our state department of revenue as either of them would tell her immediately if she owes money.
Of course once she called she found out about the scam..
My sister  was embarrassed for not realizing it was scam.
Fibro fog, anxiety, stress etc. takes its toll on even folks who normally wouldn't believe the scam.
My father has a sign by his phone to remind him to NEVER give any personal information out on phone if he didn't initiate the call.

Beware the scammers are getting better at harassing folks.
