Hello all,
Can anybody recommend a non drying sleeping pill. Prescription or not. I am dealing with dryness during day, but can't sleep more than 1-2 hours. I take evaxac right before bed, but still can't sleep. Thx all !!
Ativan perscripton is non drying. I only take it when I need to sleep. Evoxac will also help more after a few months on it.

Michael: ---if you begin taking a sleeping aid...remember to be very respectful of such drugs. I have successfully taken Xanax two different times in my life. The first time was during menopause. I had a calm and intelligent neurologist who prescribed AND endorsed taking Xanax...for anxiety prior to my falling asleep. She was on target. I took it for about 3 years. I weaned myself. About twenty years later I had an ENT dx me with TMJ (incorrectly but that is beside the point) and Rxed Xanax in .05mg to relax me to stop grinding my teeth (which in turn was supposed to be causing my jaw pain) I took it and ran. I have taken it since (about 3 years.)
I take it now for "anxiety" before I go to sleep. I cut each tablet in half--that means a 1/4 mg each night. I've taken it long enough now I probably sleep unaided about 2 nights a week. Also, about once a week I take the full .05mg.
As to drying, that is stated as a side effect--but I am dry whether I am taking this or not. I am down to waking once in the middle of the night. It's wonderful. I sip a bit of water, coat my palate and tongue with Biotene Oral Gel and go back to sleep easily. I will say this, maybe once a week I awaken about 3:30 to 4:00 and cannot go back to sleep. I am a zombie on those days. I am retired so it does not affect me as dramatically as it once did. I have done this for years btw. (waking up and not being able to go back to sleep)
Don't know how long you have been on Evoxac but your body will respond to it better with each day. Also, you may want to play with your dosage and increase the amount you take each day. I did.
Best wishes to you...and here's to more comfortable days AND nights for you!

Hi Mike,
If you need something for sleep, why not try low dose Seroquel?
For years I've taken 50 mg, it's very tolerable for Sjogren's patients. As it doesn't have much - or none at all anticholinergic effect - this was specially choosen for me. Officially Seroquel was intended as an atypical anti-psychotic, but for a while now it's also prescribed for insomina (& is great against depression too!).
My best!
