Title: Article - it's a Dry Subject
Post by: P.Trish on April 16, 2015, 09:06:49 AM
During my last rheumo examination, the Dr & I were going over the usual list among which are the

dry issues & fatigue. I tend to babble about things I'm trying, so I think that is what led to his sudden

question:

'Would you write an article for our newsletter about how you cope with dry mouth issues?

Of course, I said 'yes'.  Now, I'm nervous! This article (unless it stinks) will be in many rheumo  offices

at Cedar Sinai, as well as on my doctor's webpage.

I'll start writing it today - really there is nothing profound & most ideas have come

from this site. My viewpoint will be from my perspective of how the dryness has affected my singing

career. I am singing again, just not as much; this is after completely giving up.

-goal is to give a tone of optimism without having false hope and even a bit of humor.

Wish me luck - ideas are welcome!

Does anyone know the protocol for mentioning this site? Should I mention this site?

I'd better get to it. I'm reminded of college, when an assignment was hanging over my head :)

Yes, you will do fine. I don't know the protocol of this site. Maybe someone can let you know.

How exciting, it is so important for people to hear the patient perspective.
I did an article and simply referred to this site in the writing. (twice..  ;) )

Are you allowed to recommend specific products in the newsletter? Biotene mouthspray is helpful for mild dryness.

Drinking plenty of alkalized water is good too.

Anyway whatever you write about dealing with dryness I'm sure will be helpful to everyone reading it. Especially if it's a routine you engage in.

Thanks everyone - the article will be submitted next week.  I recommended everything that works for me and did not name brands, but I am going to double-check on whether  or not I can use them, with the dr, before submitting it.

Lovelyday, I use all biotene products.  The spray really does help.

I'm so excited for you! I hope your article is well-received, and I hope you can post a link to it -- or the article itself -- so we can all read it!
