Title: I have a question about punctual plugs!
Post by: Tharrell on March 29, 2015, 07:24:40 AM
Hi all. This is a question for the ones who had punctual plugs. Last week Tuesday I had permanent plugs put in my lower tear ducts. I had tried out temporary ones first for a month and I never felt them in there and they gave me no trouble.
These permanent one are a different story. Sometimes I don't feel them. At other times I feel one or the other when I squeeze my eyes and it feels like shards of glass.
Last night the right one, which is also a smaller duct than the left one was itching like crazy and this morning it's kind of paining me. Sort of feels like a stye.
Should I ride this out or do I have a problem and need to go back to the eye doctor?
Than y'all!

Go back to eye doc.

I had lower plugs put in - and doggone it the left one had fallen out and I didn't even know it. My eye doc had me followup a month after plugs were put in, then at f/up he put a new one in left eye with another f/up a month later.

It's been months now and I am so thankful he suggested lower plugs. I am using much less drops than I was before.

I'd go back to doctor.  If it is that irritating and painful, he needs to see it.

My pugs kept falling out so I opted for cauterizatiion. It was the best thing I did.

I had temporaries put in four years ago....and still have them with no problems.  The doctor that put them in had a great fit so they never came out.  I value the few times I can get a little tear in there and keep it.  Just don't let them overflow on my cheek or they will burn me.

Yes, go back to the doctor! I had some put in many years ago and one was placed perfectly while the other wasn't. I went back to the ophthalmologist and in three seconds I was all better!

I have since had cautery, but that's a different post!   8)
