Can anybody recommend a really good SJS specialist in California?
I live in Sacramento area so that would be my my location preference, but I could drive/fly pretty much anywhere within the state to get the right help... Parts of Nevada (Reno area) would work too.
So far I am happy to have a very helpful PCP, but so far I struggle to find a good rheumatologist. The one who originally diagnosed me is very knowledgeable and experienced, but with too much of a "wait and see" approach; while my life is going downhill with major onset of symptoms. Other one I tried didn't work for me. I have one more to try, but there is a long waiting time and it's another random try with no guarantee if he will be any better.

They helped in facilitating the Sjogren's Study on the West Coast a few years ago. I did participate in the study and I think some others here may have as well.
Everyone involved in the study was great and I remember really liking the Rheumatology consultant though I do not remember her name.
Anyway good excuse for day trip into San Francisco and they are certainly familiar with Sjogren's.
If you call the Rheum Dept there they may even be able to recommend someone more local to Sacramento.

I am new here as well. I am 37 and newly diagnosed with Primary Sjogren's. I have been seeing Dr. Islam at UC Davis in Roseville. I have been very impressed with her and UC Davis as a whole. I was referred through my general pracitioner so I am not sure if she only takes referrals or if you can call and get an appointment. Good Luck on this new adventure!
You can visit dr. Nancy Carteron in San francisco. She is an bonafide Sjogrens expert. Hard to find! Highly recommended!
