Title: Unique SJS Woman Cave :)
Post by: Head2Toe on March 18, 2015, 11:49:10 PM
OK - So this is WAY out in left field - but on top of feeling great - I also got a new washer and dryer.  The cause was not so great, as the old washer sprang a leak and caused a significant flood in the laundry room, but the bloody thing finally died :D

So it's a new fangled front load set that seriously requires the new user to read the manuals in detail.  Repeatedly.  Our first week together was a bit iffy, but after I learned a few tricks (e.g. running clothes through an extra spin cycle) and finding the right dryer setting - I decided that I COULD learn to love this new set.  I've still got another 10 weeks to make up my mind before the return policy expires, so I've got time.

Oh - and they are Bosch so have European quirks such as - no bleach allowed in the washer :o.  And the dryer is ventless - it collects water from the drying clothes and it drains away via  a hose and then it blows slightly moist warm air out a vent at the bottom of the dryer - into the room.  So far it perfectly balances humidity levels, which in our house are almost always HIGHER than recommended.  I told my husband I want to remove the toilet and  turn the laundry room into a den for me - with a comfy chair and a TV.  The room feels BLISSFUL when the dryer is going.  It's the perfect SJS Woman Cave!

Assuming we fall in love, I think my next contribution to the set will be pedestals.  It's not so difficult right now because my body doesn't hurt and my vertigo has settled to a dull roar - but if I go into another flare (almost certain) I think having the washer and dryer raised an additional 13 inches will be a God-send...  Less bending equals less body pain/stiffness, and less vertigo.  Plus more storage space!  Win/win!

Honestly - doing laundry is about the only domestic chore that I really enjoy doing :D  PS - I never iron anything.  If it's too wrinkled to wear, I throw it back in the washer and start again ;)

Oh YES Head2Toe, having the washer and dryer elevated is wonderful.  and EVEN MORE WONDERFUL is having the DISHWASHER raised by the same amount.

When we remodeled the kitchen, we raised the dishwasher and it is a breeze to load and unload for everyone.  All of my family is very tall, and bending way down is a LONG way down for us.

It sounds like venting warm mist into the house is a fantastic idea...except here in NC in the summer when our natural humidity is sky high.

Hugs,  Elaine

Wow! What a great sounding washer and dryer. I haven't heard of a dryer like that. I guess I have been out of touch with appliances for too long. lol.. Sounds like you have the perfect woman's cave for sure.  :)

I must admit that whatever type of air that dryer kicks out - although it feels BLISSFULLY moist - we put a humidity gauge in the laundry room last week and it indicates that the humidity level actually decreases when the dryer is running.  Keep in mind that we live on the 'Wet Coast' of BC - so we have a fairly high humidity level as our norm.  Whatever magic is going on in that laundry room - I absolutely love it.

The dryer is called a 'condensation dryer'.  Before I stumbled on it I would have asked:  Who knew they even existed???

So a Man Cave is a huge TV monitor, or a pool table or a bunch of tool

... and YOU come up with this, instead of an enclosed steam shower?? With fluffy white towels.. rose petals for you to step out onto..  ???  ??? .. and a masseuse  :P

Well OK.. just fantasizing here.. lol

I did look at the front loaders.. OUCH bending over... they do have Laundry Pedestal w/ Storage Drawer.

If it's too wrinkled to wear, I throw it back in the washer and start again
I put wrinkled clothes back in the dryer with a wet, then wrung out wash clothes.. so it steams the item..  :)
