Title: Health Update
Post by: Hopeful on March 16, 2015, 01:16:19 PM
Hello Everyone,

It's been a few months since I posted. I have received some private messages regarding swelling of the submandibular glands and I thought I would post an update to perhaps help those individuals looking for similar answers.

For over a year I have had swelling of the submandibular glands. Drs have tested me for so much. Lip biopsy (negative for Sjogrens), complete blood work up, Biopsy of submandibular gland (negative cancer), imaging MRI, ultra sounds (nothing).

A few months ago the swelling seemed to subside. My oral surgeon wanted me to get an ultra sound again. For the first time in over a year they said my salivary ducts are inflamed and they normally do not show up on ultrasound unless they are inflamed.

3 days later I had a bump inside back of mouth with what looked like a little white grain of sand! I thought finally this could be a stone. (Something Drs have been looking for but unable to find)

My Drs now think my submandibular glands could have been because of small stones that are so tiny they don't show up on imaging. We will see

In other news I went hypothyroid and my Hashimotos is now official and they upped my Synthroid.

I have been getting hives around my mouth and on lower parts of my cheeks. Drs have no idea what this is from. They just upped my Allegra.

Hope this helps :)

I have been feeling a lot better but the hives scare me. This is new. Can sjogrens present with hives like this?
