Title: Ladies...anyone using Estring?
Post by: Jenny on March 16, 2015, 04:18:05 AM
Like many of you my va-j-j is extremely dry which makes sex very painful. I went to a new doctor who prescribed Estring which is a low dose estrogen ring which you insert every 3 months. She said it is very safe and the estrogen stays in the vagina and doesn't travel thru the body. She even gives it to breast cancer survivors. I'm just wondering if it has helped anyone. She said it takes about a month to get the full affect.

I haven't tried it, but all estrogen travels through the body. It may be small amount, but they are systemic..

Might be worth to give it a try, if you don't feel well, they can take it out. You may experience some side effects at first,
but give it some time for your hormones to level out.

Hope you find some relief!!

Yes, I loved it but it would fall out, at times, when I had to have a bowel movement.  Sorry, probably  tmi.  But, this does happen with some people. I think you will love it.  The vagina responds very well to estrogen and it feels s much better.

I haven't tried that one but I do agree with gurs in that even vaginal applications of estrogen have a systemic effect. I was on premarin (vaginal) for dryness. That one did work well. Down side - neither is an option for me any longer thanks to BC

As with any medication, there may be side effects.

Here's the labeling info on estring (it's long with a lot of info, including black box warnings and contraindications to other medical conditions):
