Title: Rosacea Relief
Post by: SjoGirl on January 30, 2015, 04:53:01 PM
Last weekend I decided to try a cover up for my Rosacea. It is a two sided concealer made by Physician's Formula -- one side is green to cover redness and the other more skin toned. Amazingly the green has worked wonders on my nose, I haven't had any Rosacea outbreaks all week! I needed one good thing to happen and this was it.

SjoGirl,

Not sure if it's ok to post this, so ignore it if it isn't. I've have Rosacea too and found a fantastic treatment. Manuka honey masks! Calms down my Rosacea for about a month. I use it twice a month. I cover my face and leave it on 15-30 minutes. Lip licking great treatment. I also use Eucerian daily face lotion with green tint. I am going to give Physician's Formula concealer a try. Thanks for the tip.

Side note, I had laser surgery done on my Rosacea years ago - it worked well enough but my face swelled so extremely I shocked the doctor. I had this done at a highly reputable plastic surgeon. This was before I had ever heard the word Sjogren's. I had to put my face in a bowl of ice water just to be able to see. No one could figure out what was going on. I do NOT recommend facial laser surgery for people with inflammatory issues.

Can anyone still wear eye make up? Every time I wear it for a day I end up have to let my eyes recover for a few days. Tips are welcome. I have Rosacea of the eye lids.

Thanks,
Di

Hi you guys!  I have what my Dr. and I have called rosacea, although he's not so sure that's what it is.  It sounds like you've all been diagnosed, but have you ever thought it could be the lupus rash?  I'm starting to think that's what it may be.  It occurs after I've been exposed to sun or in a room that's too warm.  My face turns red and sometimes it's almost a deep purple.  Very disturbing and ugly to me.  Anyway, just a thought, I see a new rheumy next month so I'll ask him about it.  All that aside, the makeup hints you've shared are great and very much hopeful to me.  Thank you!

The lupus rash and Rosacea look substantively different to me. The Lupus rash tends to be in a butterfly pattern and in many cases seems to spread farther across the face than Rosacea (though everyone is different). FYI My PCP told me the only way to really tell the difference it to have a biopsy when your rash is active.

Thanks for the tip about the mask, I'll keep in in mind.

hello to all

I was diagnosed with rosacea in the 1990's  I have been rx'd MetroGel and I
now use Finacea and it has really decreased the redness.

I have read on an autoimmune site that it is considered an autoimmune condition
and heredity as you know increases your chances.

There is rosacea...acnes rosacea and even ocular rosacea.

Your in good company though...I had read that Lady Di, President Clinton
W.C. Fields all had it.  Men usually can suffer a more extreme version with it
called Rhynophyma.

I use Afrin nasal spray on my red areas to cause the blood vessels right
under the skin to contract and it decreases the redness (per the derm I work for )
then you can put make up on.

I am afflicted with this enough that I have permenantly enlarged
blood vessels under the skin around my nose and chin that I need
to have laser treatments to get rid of them for good.

Also increased temps of weather, food ,etc.....aggravates even more.

I am sorry you or anyone has to put up with rosacea.
