Title: ?'s
Post by: Crystal31 on July 22, 2014, 07:36:22 PM
Went to Johns Hopkins and saw a neurologist at bayview. He thinks based upon my blood work and symptoms that I don't have sjogrens but that I have lupus. He wants me to start on plaquenil. Has anyone had bad side effects with this medicine? I'm actually quite scared but am trying to stay strong. Now I just need to find myself a good rheumetologist that's local. Is there a lupus page like there is for sjogrens?

I have been on Plaquenil since Sept. 2013. I have had no noticeable side effects from it. I seem to tolerate it very well. Physically and mentally I feel considerably better than I did prior to taking the Plaquenil.

I don't know of a Lupus forum but others on the forum may know of one.

I do hope the Plaquenil helps you (if you decide to take it).

Dearest Crystal,

There is always a group for everything.

But I'm not finding a good support group for Lupus like this one on first trying.

I'll try again.

This might work:

http://messageboards.lupus.org

and another:

http://www.lifewithlupus.org

But I don't know, Crystal.

You can also ask your questions here.

Hugs, Elaine

I recommend that people check for counter indications, interactions and side effects. I had a bad reaction to plaq but that is not normal. There was a post of a recent study that indicated for our illness it was no better than a placebo. Iwould perfer to see more studies with the same results before accepting this answer. Many people swear by this med.

Plaquenil has me tremendously.  On it for four months now and have had zero side effects.  Hope it works for you as well.
