Title: Memorial Day
Post by: quietdynamics on May 26, 2014, 07:50:47 AM
My Stepfather was in in Europe, in the Army. WWII
Towards the end he helped free and literally carry people out of a concentration/death camp and witnessed horrors.
I have some photos I need to donate.
At the camp during the liberation, he learned that  his brother was a POW.
Brothers' plane had been shot down.
Logistically he was close and he asked for permission to go to find his brother. Permission was granted and he found him.

My stepfather has passed and it has been awhile.

He would shake his head when he heard some of the difficulties I had trying to learn what 'wrong' with me. He was baffled.
It was one of the the few times seeing a strong person leave the mantle of stoicism: "  opposed to negative emotions, such as anger, anxiety, jealousy, and fear".. he had survived a war. He was pragmatic, finding solutions and now being baffled, confused that his stepdaughter was not being helped. His own daughter had just passed from cancer.

Memorial Day.. I do not believe he nor his brother would mind (they were generous people), my including, thinking and giving a salute to the people who have  suffered without treatment .. perhaps due to the time... from Autoimmune Disease.  It is what I do on Memorial Day. Think of those who have gone before me.

I think and wonder about those we no longer hear from here. You are not forgotten.
And those who 'solider' on in this life. Thank you for sharing about Sjogrens. The "good, the bad and the ugly."
Those who are able to volunteer for trials.. Thank you.
Those who went before us.. Thank you.
Those who walk beside us and will come along.. We care..let us lighten your burden. Thank you for lightening ours. Even share a laugh.

And to, in my recent personal experience, the 5 year old child just Dx'd.. My Heart.
I will be giving your Dr. some papers.
