Title: Hearing problems
Post by: Cindy on May 07, 2014, 02:58:43 PM
For the past months. I have felt a blockage in my left ear. I didnt pay attention because I thought it was allergies. Now I hear weird stuff plus the blockage. Went to the ent and found nothing wrong with my ear now in monday I will have a hearing test done. If sjogrens it's causing damage. What can be done to stop further damage.

I don't know if this is related to Sjogren's and I don't have any advice, but I will be interested to hear what everyone else says. I also have a lot of problems with my ears. Whenever I get a cold, the congestion always goes to my ears, and either one or both will get blocked for weeks, resulting in really reduced hearing.  I also have very reduce hearing in one ear normally, bad enough that I would be a candidate for a hearing aid. I've also noticed over the past few months that I just have a lot of congestion/popping in my ears, especially in the morning after laying down all night.

Hi Cindy  :)

Why are you anxious about the hearing test? Is it because you have not had one before or because you fear it will confirm hearing loss?

I have hearing tests every couple of years or so and use a hearing aid in one ear - which has always had bad hearing. Didn't get an aid till I was 50 though. SOoo wish I had had one at school!

The test is a straightforward procedure and if there is significant loss a hearing aid could help a lot.

Take care - Scottie  :)
