Title: Note to self
Post by: eija on March 04, 2014, 12:26:52 AM
When you feel like crap, make sure you have taken your pills for the day. I mean make sure. Don't just think you know you did - because probably you didn't.

When you come home and the gate is open - don't assume someone opened it for you. They didn't. It was you who left it open. Even if you're 100% sure you closed it when leaving.

Note to Self:  You are too old to be trying to get the toy out of the cereal box as soon as you open it.  You are the only making a mess and you are the one that will have to clean the mess now.

If the lamp by the bed has an adjustable arm that is 'flopping' down...
DO NOT prop it up the arm with a paper back book that just might shift and the pages start smoldering/ burning while you fell asleep...  :(

OMG.. Sunday early evening, just went to read and take a 'time out', dozed off,  and I can still smell it today Tuesday... thankfully it woke me up. Twice. Melted the light bulb covering... and the very bottom turn dimmer   :o

Ya'know  I woke up twice.
Thought why is the fireplace on?? We never use it? I hate the smell.

I had the bedroom door closed, so maybe no one else noticed at first?

I had tried to tighten the arm with a coin. Then asked DH to tighten it with a screwdriver.. but, we are  pulled in so many directions. Not on the top of the list. The book was working for a month or more. Loved the dimmer it did not hurt my eyes.

Only use the lamp at night when I am reading.
But, we need to check the smoke detector in the bedroom... that should have gone off. So maybe this was a 'blessing in disguise"?

Well, I always have to look for the positive in things so I am going with the smoke detector check-up today..

QD: I need to google one or more medical terms/medications in mot of your posts.  To be fair...in almost ALL posts here.  This query is to know if DH means "Dear Husband or darn Husband"?  (I meant due the smoldering! )   :)

Oh dear QD,

That's always more than a bit scary.  I'm so glad you figured it out in time........

Ahhh, CCC, now you know why my Immunologist always says to her colleagues, do not look at HER, look at her chart.

Of course if I looked like I feel a great deal of the time, I'd be a sort of Zombie Robot............

When I had my second child, at 28, my OB stopped by my room early in the morning and said, 'are you ok?'
later when he stopped by he said, 'You look much better!'  I'd put on LIPSTICK.  sigh, some doctor he was.

Once when George Burns was in his late 90's, he entered a party with a 'flourish'....strode across the room to applause.  One of the guests said 'You walk in like you feel like a million dollars'.  George Burns said "You have NO IDEA how much work that takes!"

Yes, most people don't know how much work it takes to get up, suit up and show up each day.

Hugs,  Elaine

LOL.  Since I am on the computer at work all the time, I have it fixed to pop up personal reminders for me.  Without that, I'd forget a lot of stuff.
Also, I have some stuff I do in the morning that is just routine - do the same thing same time every morning. I usually "usually" don't get off track that way.
Is the mind really the first thing to go?  I hope not!!  ;)

When you feel like crap, you feel like crap. Period!

Put your brains on post-a-notes and stick all over the house. With any luck you might see the note and get something accomplished.

When you feel like crap and can't find the post-a-notes then treat yourself good and place peanut butter on ice cream with some chocolate syrup and enjoy. Life is good. Irish
