Title: Update
Post by: Dolly Dimples on February 22, 2014, 09:58:51 AM
Hi, had my endoscopy Monday gone, there was a couple of nodules taken for Biopsy from the Oesophagus tube,

Anyone had anything similar to this procedure? I was scoped because of food sticking in the gullet,

I simply imagined it was due to the extreme dryness down my throat,  until someone here suggested seeing my GP.

It's all so scary, so please think good vibes for me throughout this waiting.  Thanks all,  Dolly x

Dolly - I know this can be a scary time...I had both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy at the same time last year - talk about double YUCK!

They were done due to loss of weight (quickly) and trying to rule out celiacs disease - they found nothing in mine, however, that is not to say that what they have found with your test means anything significant either.  I do believe (and I may be wrong) that sometimes there are just nodules or benign things that grow in our bodies that do not do anything or mean anything bad.

I am sure others will chime in on their experiences.

I will be hoping and praying for good results.

Keep us posted.

OK I checked out gastric polyps.  They are somewhat common, and are mostly no problem.

On the whole I would find comfort from that.  They will biopsy the polyp so you will know soon.

I've had a polyp taken from my colon during a colonoscopy, and it was 'pre-cancerous' so I'm glad they took it.  That just means that it 'could' turn into cancer, not even that it necessary would.  So I had another colonoscopy in two years, and then another in 5 even tho' I had passed the 'magic age 70 mark' and shouldn't have had another one.

On the whole I would say, keep breathing, do fun things and think happy thoughts!

We need to do that all the time, anyway, Dolly darling.

Hugs,  Elaine

Dear Dolly,

I am so sorry that you are experiencing this right now.  You are right that waiting and not knowing can be the worst.  Here's hoping that you learn the results soon, and that everything is okay!  And here's another hug for you!

Hi Dolly, I have had many scopes and have gastroparesis.  Dolly food sticking in the esophagus could be from a stricture, which is often caused by too much acid.  They can dilate the esophagus for this.  Another issue is motility problems.  I have had this before.

Hope you get answers soon.

Anna

Once again, sincere thanks to all of you for the lovely replies and for boosting morale.
It's very touching when all of you have your own worries and complaints, yet take time to share words of comfort.
I shall still worry,  but your kind thoughts are still very comforting. Thanks, Dolly x

Hi Dolly

Did they give you any indication of when your results will be back?

My youngest son ,Michael, is on an urgent list for endoscopy and colonoscopy for more rectal bleeding. It's a worry, but we are hoping it's been caused by his NSAIDs ratehr than anything sinister.

More hugs
