Post by: bhagopadda on December 13, 2013, 10:55:28 AM
Hi All,

I'm pregnant after 6 years for the first time and i have sjdromes.
doctor has recommend it for me to take planequil and baby aspirin. so i wont get blood clots i guess that is what they are afraid  ..they dont need me to take any heparin or lovenox at this point just those two medication is that normal.

Second question is CARDIOLIPIN ANTIBODY   the same thing as Anticardiolipin antibody.. i'm waiting for kaiser to update the results i see the test CARDIOLIPIN ANTIBODY  so i was wondering if it was the same thing?  do you guys know?

Hi bhagopadda - welcome and congratulations!   :D

Sorry, I don't know the answer to either of your questions.

I'm pretty sure I had Sjogren's back when I had our son almost 18 yrs. ago, but I hadn't been dx'd yet, so I wasn't on Plaquenil yet.

There have been a few members whom have had babies recently - hopefully, they will see your thread and pop in and introduce themselves and maybe answer your questions.

If you put the word, pregnant or pregnancy,  in the search box to the top right of this page, it will take you to previous threads about that topic.

I've read in Sjogren's books before that mother's that are pregnant and who have Sjogren's have to be watched for congenital heart block in their baby.  I know it has something to do with the anti-Ro/SSA and anti-La/SSB antibody.

Best wishes to you during your pregnancy..

I hope you find this site helpful to you on your Sjogren's journey.  There's a wealth of information here and members from literally around-the-world.  Welcome!

Bucky

bhagopadda...A wonderful time for you and your husband...congratulations to both of you. Enjoy every moment.
Not sure if SJS had presented when I was pregnant. Possible, was not tested back then,
Only thing I did was to have a protein snack before bed to avoid morning sickness..piece of quality cheese on a cracker or peanut butter on a cracker.  Worked for me, never had morning sickness, as some other woman did.
And I did walk a lot to keep muscles toned ...but, nature really does what it does best.  ;)

Hoping you will keep us posted as you "blossom".

Congratulations! This is wonderful news!

I don't know about the antibodies, but I had to take a baby aspirin a day throughout my pregnancies because I have MTHFR (true acronym). I think it may be due to that "A" antibody?? Basically you have little wee clots that do nothing to you but to your baby it causes the same problems as big clots would for us. Is this it? I was told by a few docs that MTHFR walks hand in hand with SjS.

Try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible. This is one of the most precious and beautiful times in your life!

Peace and many blessings to you and your family,
~Andrea
