Title: Riding motorcycles, anyone?
Post by: wisconsin41 on October 11, 2013, 04:58:14 PM
Just wondering if anyone rides motorcycles with Sjogrens?   Curious how you handle the dryness etc.

Tnx!
Andy

I have not ridden a bike in about 30 years. An auto accident was a balance problem.

We'll days are far behind me and I was riding the back but i did buy a pair of liberty sunglasses a few years ago at the same time I was prescribed restasis.

My eyes were soooo dry, I tried them on and was sold.  They were a godsend.  I noticed a difference right away, they really help with the dry eye, outdoors in dry windy climates, or air conditioned cars etc.

They have a cushioned rim inside and are similar to other riding shades.

Ride on,
Dee

I gave up riding with my husband years ago d/t what I saw in my nursing clinicals

with the head injuries....permenant ones...so sad.

However....d/t the wind drying out the eyes and hip issues with the RA...I don't

think I could ride anymore anyways.

If you enjoy it...you'll find ways to deal with it all.  Good goggles I would think.

I don't ride for the same reasons noted, seen too many dead or barely surviving brain injuries from motorcycles.

That being said, make sure you wear a good helmet and I would think one with a face shield would prevent the wind from drying your eyes out as well as protecting your face from flying debris.

 Have a scooter,
Not the same same as a motorcycle, but the wind in my face can be a problem. I use sunglasses with my helmet under the face piece.

We do ride.  I am blind as a bat anyway, so I ordered special glasses that are made for riding.  They have foam around them to block out the wind and have the lenses that change to sunglasses automatically, so I can use them at night as well as they turn back clear.

I haven't had any issues since getting them.  I simply use drops before we go and when we stop if needed.
