I started Evoxac generic last Friday night Aug. 30th. I was prescribed the standard 3x/day. Knowing that I often am sensitive to medication/supplements I took only 1 Friday night.
1st pill: Saliva,sinuses, throat felt great and I didn't feel any side effects until the next morning. All day Sat. I felt really light-headed. I finally cleared up 24 hours after taking the 1st pill.
2nd pill: Sunday morning I took my 2nd pill. Felt good no side effects until about 8 hours afterward. Heart rate went up, felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Went to bed with no pill. Monday morning 24hrs. after taking my last pill I woke up extremely light headed! I told my wife I thought I was going to faint. This horrible feeling lasted until the late afternoon! There was a few moments I was confused and had a hard time consentrating :'( I didn't feel better until 33 hours after my last pill was taken. Aghhhh
3rd pill I tried to take half at night and half in the morning. Same thing, light headed and I almost felt like I was losing my mind...
Honestly I am afraid to take any more, not sure what I will do now. I can't live with a dry sinus and gum in my mouth all the time.
Hi and sorry you're having such a hard time with Evaxac. Have you called your doctor this week to let him know? I'm not sure about the reaction you had, it was delayed from when you took the med and Evoxac usually starts working pretty quickly and it's effects wear off fast ( that's why we take it 3 times a day). But if you are having side effects like that and your sure its the med, I would stop taking it.
On a side note, meds that come in capsule form shouldn't be split as it isnt a hard tablet. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist before splitting a medication.

I am positive it is from the Cevimeline. I didn't anticipate having side effects 24+ hours after taking it though...
I want to suggest that you do a search for the medication name and Side effects, then interactions, then counterindications.
The ENT wrote a prescription for Pilocarpine. Can I expect the same result? Everyone is so different...
Took a half pilocarpine, hope I don't get sick and that it works...
Hoping the pilocarpine works for you, I just re-started it.
I always introduce (wean onto) new med @ night. One medical professional recommended this so any side-effects that may be transient as the level builds and our bodies become tolerant occur at night.
Pilocarpine: When husband was researching this drug for Pharma/ Alzheimer patients...it helped with mental acuity/alertness. Unfortunately, it did not meet the study objective...but...

"In ophthalmology, pilocarpine is also used to reduce the possibility of glare at night from lights when the patient has undergone implantation of phakic intraocular lenses; the use of pilocarpine would reduce the size of the pupils, relieving these symptoms. The most common concentration for this use is pilocarpine 1%, the weakest concentration."
I took pilocarpine for a few days back in 2011. I did not have a
good experience with it. I got severe vertigo with nausea and vomiting.
Had to see my GP who gave me a injection of Compazine/or Phenergan (can't remember)
plus a RX for meclizine and Valium.
I had vertigo so bad it felt like the room was being picked up and laid on it's side.
But shortly after taking a pilocarpine I got a burst of saliva...which shows it worked for me.

Wow eye2dry! Did that happen later or near the time you swallowed it?
Everyone is different on different medications. I started pilocarpine a week ago and haven't had any adverse reactions.

I had vertigo type dizziness and nausea for months pre- dx with Sjogrens. So without any medications.
A symptom of Sjogren? Possible, probable...in my situation.
As Velcro said " Everyone is different" that goes for symptoms as well.
Once meds have been added...discerning side effects or symptoms is very difficult.

I believe I got 3 days of pills in me.
My rheumy did mot suggest I try any other similar meds.....
however, fast forward to 2013 and I don't have the dry mouth symptoms near as bad.
Also, my eyes have straightened out as well......not near as dry.
I don't know wether to be glad for it or concerned.

Pilocarpine did made my heart rate go up. Anxiety attack feeling along with burst of cold sweats and wierd chills, several abdominal cramp. I was prescribed up to 3x a day but didn't do that do to side effects.
Evoxac is pretty good. I take the name brand ones. I am working on adjusting my amount. I was prescribed 2 a day, but after a few days it seems to build up in my system causing my minor salivary ducts to swell and very painful at the openngs. I also developed a nasty taste in my mouth. I now take only one every other day. It still seems to help, but my eyes feel quite a bit drier. I also earned how to massage my saliva ducts in he morning to clear out thicker saliva that builds up during the night. My ducts have been feeling better and no more weird nasty taste.
Bad heart rate stuff sucks and can be scary. I hate trying new meds.
Good luck you may need to play around with different treatments. There are many products the can help symptoms.

To look at side effects of meds, I look at the sites about the drug, but also look at askapatient.com.
It has actual patient reviews where they rate the drug, put in side effects and comments for each drug, as well as the date they rated it and their age. I've found it to be very helpful to see if people experience a side effect that is listed in the literature.
Evoxac is on there; you might want to look at it.
