I thought it might be interesting to find out other Soggies' odd, funny or whatever experiences they have had while holding down a job. I just bet you all have some doozies! I have a cousin who just looooves my "work in the trenches" stories. ::) :o
My most recent one was getting woke up by an automatic phone call at FOUR AM on Friday telling employees that work at a particular site not to report to work due to a major electrical outage and they' be notified when it was fixed. I don't even work at the site!!! I can tell you there were a lot of tired people reporting to work that day. Least now they know a bit of what MY fatigue is like.
Last week I had an accommodation meeting with my immediate supervisor,head of Environmental Health and Safety and the Return to work specialist. We were there about my perfume and chemical sensitivities. I am a closet Sjoggie so they think it is just due to my allergies and asthma.
The head of safety says no one would keep a strong smelling plant eg a hyacinth around for a week if a coworker had a problem with it. I just sat there with no visible response. My supervisor was the hyacinth culprit and kept it over a week just to make her point that NO ONE CAN BE BOTHERED BY A PLANT BECAUSE IT IS NATURAL! I felt I deserved an Academy Award for my non-performance. Hubby had a good laugh with me when I told him.
By the way, I am still the healthiest one at work so will keep my secret for now. I am still a term contract worker but will have job security in 14 months.

I have severe reactions to smells/scents. My former co-workers loved to spray this room deodorizes after using the restroom that was near my office. It would trigger an immediate severe coughing response and I was accused of making it up. There was also the co-worker that said it was her right to wear whatever perfume she wanted and that my response was MY problem not hers. I had 2 severe asthma attacks that they had to call the paramedics. That was when they finally came up with a policy.
Crazy stuff. Natural scents are just as bad as the artificial scents. I can no longer have fresh flowers near me.

I woke up at 4 a.m. from stress, but knew I would find solace, among other things, in this forum.
I too have had issues with scents and someone burning Scentsy in the office, after closing my door but still coughing my brains out I finally asked as nicely as I could if she would not burn them while I'm in as I have allergies. She kindly agreed. I try to remember to tell her when I'm going to be out of the office so she can smell her scents to her heart's content.
On a lighter note, this makes me thinks of a book title -- Scents and Sensibilities -- maybe that would be a good title for an office policy ;D
Kendo, a wasp is a natural thing, too, but a lady in my town just died from a wasp sting.
Pollen is natural. Dust is natural. Cat dander is natural. People are allergic to these things.
She must not be very bright. It's always been a mystery to me how these people get into supervisory positions. I think they must have good hair or something.
I'm assuming your supervisor was at the accommodation meeting. I'd love to know what SHE did while you were sitting quitely wearing your poker face.
I once worked with a girl who got dizzy when someone wore polka dots! And we all never wore them. It's called being a grown up.
My supervisor was there and looking down at her notes and checking her watch because she had to leave early to take her cat to the vet.
This is one of five cats she has even though her partner is allergic and has even had sinus surgery. I guess I'm lucky that cats don't come to work (dogs do but stay in private offices!).
