Title: furry tongue.....is this a concern?
Post by: SjoAmy on July 13, 2013, 06:55:47 PM
I just came across this last night.....my tongue looks furry....not necessarily hairy, but short 1/8" about in size...white....pasty...am I  just weird or do I need to go to the ENT? :P. Kinda reminds me of shag carpeting.

Do you have thrush maybe, it will coat the tongue white.  it can also make the tongue very sore and red.  Check with your doctor, there are some mouth swishes you can use.

I would agree with Nancy60 - sounds like oral thrush - a yeast infection in the mouth.  If it is in fact this, you will need a prescription mouth swish to take care of it.  You will want to be certain it does not spread so if you can get in to see your PCP tomorrow, you may want to.

Sometimes when you take oral antibiotics you can get thrush.

Sending positive thoughts your way.

I'll notify the ENT tomorrow.  Thanks everyone!  :P.  :-X   8)
