Title: Numb heels/feet anyone...
Post by: anabanana on May 24, 2013, 05:19:51 PM
Ok, so this has been getting worse for me and wonder if anyone else experiences this.

When I put mild pressure on my feet (like laying on the couch, with my knees bent), the skin on my heels goes numb on both feet...I also feel this cold burn, like frostbite in my heels. Standing/walking also causes a similar sensation in my feet...
Meant to add, i am also having a desensitized, tingly feeling in my fingertips too...
Any thoughts what this could be...

I am wondering if this could be peripheral neuropathy?  I am not diagnosed with this but have been reading articles on this lately.

Then again, could it be something circulatory? Do you have any skin color changes in your hands and feet?

Better to check with your md.

Yes, I have those symptoms.

And more.

I have Peripheral Neuropathy.

It is quite severe and the nerve damage affects the circulation in my feet, so my toes are purple.

There are no treatments to stop PN.  It very often accompanies diabetes, but I am NOT diabetic.

I can give you several links:

Keep us posted, please.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, anabanana

there are medications that help with the pain and tingling, however.

Hi Elaine and thank you for all the great links...
It is very frustrating, I don't have diabetes either...
I just had some emg/ncv, and supposedly it didn't show anything, whatever that is worth.

I wonder if small fiber neuropathy could account for the same types of symptoms that I have, the numbness, cold burn, desensitized, tingly? It certainly sounds like a circulatory thing to me too, which can be peripheral, but I wonder if small fiber neuropathy could cause circulation problems also?

When I rub the back of my feet/heels, it feels better for the time,  but then the cold burn returns..its a very irritating sensation...

I have numbness I feel between two toes when I rub them together I feel it is funny as that sounds.

I am diabetic, but very controlled right now, and I have wrote about this before in another post that my left arm down through my hand is hurting with nerve pain.

My arm was put in a sling by nurse practitioner, and was given steroid shots.

Later went to Rhuemy, and he sent me for cervical  x-ray, and it show beginnings of deterioration. He also put me on a steroid pack, and gave me script for oxycodone.

I am still taking the pain meds, and that is only time a dulling of pain, otherwise no relief.

Nurse practitioner said probably pinched nerve, and it might be, but don't know what else to do.

I am really laid up with this.

I also thought of the peripheral neuropathy, because my dear mother had it for years, and suffered greatly.

I don't know if you have this, but I also have major big time tingling going up and down my arm, besides pain.
