Title: The pests, er, pets, in our lives
Post by: slccom on April 29, 2013, 01:19:27 PM
I am owned by five dogs. If I didn't have to get going, I'd tell you about them now. Who else is owned by animals? What kind? Let's share smiles!

We just adopted Bailey a few weeks ago. She is very spoiled, still part puppy. Chews on what ever she can. Loves our back yard. She is afraid of the neighbor dog and most men. She loves to sleep with Jan. I have cancelled appointments so she would not be alone. Yes we are owned by her.

I am owned by my dog (shelter mutt) and my horse, and "rented" on a regular basis by friends and clients' horses...they make me soooooooo happy and alive, even if sometimes they also make me achy, sore, overtaxed, filthy, and poor.... :o  ::)  ;D

I told my husband if I ever land in the hospital for any length of time, he's to smuggle the dog in and also my smelly saddle-pad that reeks of horsehair and sweat. THOSE things will keep me alive when nothing else will....

3 dogs and cats here. My youngest cat "pats" me in the face if I don't get up on time. The dogs will put their faces close to mine to make sure I am up. They do like to keep on schedule.
However, my golden earns his keep by helping me out of the chair or bed. My life would not be the same without them.

Two adorable cats (is there any other kind?)

One 6.5, one 12.

Max, the younger, was just diagnosed with severe arthritis in his hips, they are almost gone!   So I medicate him for pain, and help him up on the bed.

He's very greedy for affection and purrs so loudly it keeps me awake (of course he sleeps with me.)

Mia is the 12 year old, a Maine Coon, very sweet, very attached to my husband who brushes her and feeds her 'treasures' from the table.

Max, the younger, cares NOTHING for 'hooman' food at all.   They are so different.

We also have on occasion, Luke, our grandBeagle, who is two.  He is very sweet, and the cats more or less tolerate him, tho' Max will put him in his place if he ventures too close.

I would have dozens more, or at least a few, but fear turning into a crazy(er) cat-lady.

We talk about them constantly to each other, and I move their special beds from one room to another to have them near us or to put the beds in the sun during the day.

Yes, I am the willing servant to two cat Masters.  Or one Master and one Mistress.

Hugs

Elaine

I have 5 little souls in cat suits. They range in age from 14 to 8 yrs old.
One who took a long time to come around and was scared of people, has turned into a diva. Once I am moving at all in the morning, I am supposed to feed her. Forget anything else. She has a big purr and I tell her she has the heart of a lion. I have her and a "miss manners", a "pest", a "big ole mush", and a "big baby".  I figured out in "people ages" that my house is full of all seniors. LOL

I am not a weird cat lady either.  I had an "acquantance" once ask me why I had so many cats. I just said "they were cheaper than prozac" and that shut her up.  ::) ;)

Pisces I LOVE that response. Can I borrow it? People think I have too many pets but I have a son who was always bringing home a new "friend". Three are now seniors and 1 is not in the best of health and I could lose her this year but she was a gift who brought unconditional love into my life.

I have 2 fur babies (Shih Tzu's) that are my "children" since I don't have any of my own.

I got Mushi (means bug in Japanese and I kept calling her a little bug when I first got her, a Japanese friend suggested the name and it stuck) 10 years ago and Mia (I just liked the name) 7 years ago.

Mushi is always curled up right beside me, they both sleep at the foot of my bed.

Mia always runs to the door to greet me with a toy in her mouth, she is always ready to play.

I am so glad I have them, I always look forward to coming home.

When I am not feeling well, they will be curled up right next to me and nuzzle me every once in awhile as if they are checking on me.

Love my puppies!

We have three dogs in our family. A staffordshire bull terrier, an american bulldog and a little mongrel terrier that is the size of about a fox terrier. They are my babies.  ;D

I have a little cockapoo dog, who I just love to death! He is getting to be an old man (11yrs.) and he has had his own health challenges.

We keep eachother walking everyday and I wouldn't trade him for the world!

Thank goodness for our pests, er, pets. lol

I know the feeling - both the being poor and not wanting to be away from them! I have a horse, too. It takes fortunes to get her shoed because she's afraid of the farrier (one farrier beat her up last year). I don't really ride myself anymore, but the horsie is SOOOOO important to me. Even though she's a pain in so many ways - a real Mare!

Then we have three dogs: Two griffons (petit brabancos) and one French bulldog. One of the griffons and the Frenchie (named Tyson) don't get a long very well so it's a bit of a balancing act between those two. The older griffon has been a bit poorly lately, I need to take him to the vet next week. There seems to be something really wrong with his hind legs :( The other griffon is very trying - he's so eager to bark all the time that we're all fed up with that. When he's quiet, he's very sweet a pooch. The Frenchie is a bit sharp, we've had a lot of work to train him not to protect his chewing bones too much. One he even bit my daughter, but she and hubby didn't let me take him away. So instead he lost his "balls" and went through an "ice age" along with even more very strict training.

The animals give us a lot of entertainment and we love them to bits. As for horses, for years I've said they're my "muzzle therapy". I wouldn't be sane (even this much...) anymore without them.

We have 4 dogs, and one cat. We took in recently our little dog-part Yorkie part Pekinese named Bonnie. She did make 5 dogs, but our biggest baby boy Jo Jo passed away about 3 weeks ago.

We miss Jo Jo so much. He was a gentle giant. The names of our others is Matilda/Tildy(part Australian Shepard), Buddy(Cardigan Corgi), Li'l Anne(Golden Retriever), and Charlie our big white boy cat.

Wow, so many have such a house FULL of love!

Makes me think we need to get a few more furry friends to love.

I am now only owned by four dogs. Mr. Bojangles didn't wake up this morning. He was our 35-pound bichon, and we miss him very much. That pretty much ruined our month.  :'(

Paige, our phantom black and brown poodle, is very upset. They all know that Bo died, though. Scamp, our oldest, is a little malti-bichi-poo. Our Max is a maltese, very shy and healing very slowly from a really rough life.

I'm going to go cry now for a bit. At least I can.

Sending support.. My heart is with you...

My heart goes out to you. Losing a fur baby is heartbreaking - we lost two a couple of years ago, and have none now. We hope to start a new fur family when my hubby retires in a couple of years.

One cat who the shelter told us would not be willing to share us with anyone. We're owned, yes, owned by her.

I am owned by my dogs too.  Susie,  who is a mutt, primarily jack russell,  Rusty,  98% golden retriever 2% german shephard, and Lexus  100% siberian husky,.   Susie and Rusty grew up together being a month apart and they are 13yrs old.  Lexus is about 9.  we were not sure of her age when we got her because we didnt think the papers were hers.  TheY will do for my husband and my daughters but they hesitate.  all i have to do is point, pat or clap hands and they know what to do without talking.  My husband works all night and they are the best company a woman could have.  Dont know what i will do when Rusty & Susie go.  They are beginning to show signs of age and ailment.  But i love them to death and wouldnt trade them for the world!!!!

We don't know where we will be living then - or whether pets will be allowed. Even if they are, we wouldn't want to leave them home alone while we were both at work.

Get two! Seriously, I would never live where I could not have a pet. I hope you can find a great place.

I second that idea to get two. They keep each other company and "train" each other. ;D

I am owned by three dogs - a cream Irish Wolfhound ( Huge); a grey Wolfhound/Weimeraner mix (Large);  a brown Terrier mix of some sort (medium/small) .  Two are rescues.  And we live in a small house with a small yard and drive a smaller car, too, lol.

We don't subscribe to the Cesar Milan Dog Etiquettte way of life.  We're a little unruly and yes, they rule our lives.  And the leader of the pack is the small terrier, of course.

I have three meows  ;D adopted from the Feral Cat Foundation, Gwendolyn, Tigger and Seraveena.  They are my babies, yet technically senior citizens.  All have a special place on the bed, often cuddling up to me.  I lost my beloved border collie some months ago and still miss him terribly, particularly our Saturday rides in the car running errands.

My life has been so enriched with pets, enjoying their unique personalities, antics, and unconditional love.  It's a little, no a lot of heaven, having them around.

One of my pets that I'm the housekeeper for  :D, LilliBelle, is on a mild antibiotic and Claritin.
Well I am on the same thing from my dr. LOL  :)  We both have allergies this time of year and are improving with the meds.

LilliBelle was adopted at age ca 1 yr from a no-kill cat shelter. When I let her loose in the house, she was sooo careful about doing anything for a couple weeks. Could believe she had her own food, own bed and a place at the window to view the birds. She acted so much like a "guest" for awhile I gave her the nickname of Miss Manners. 8)
