Title: neurologist appointment - EMG
Post by: Reanne on April 24, 2013, 03:16:57 PM
The good news is my nerves are the best nerves she has seen in awhile!  The not so good news is I do have some muscular changes.  She didn't go into detail of what this could mean.  She did say after she gets results from Scott and White, she may do a muscle biopsy.  The biopsy would go to Mayo Clinic.  My next tentative appointment is three months away.  After today, I am glad I have a chance to rest up.  I know EMGs are not that invasive, but I do have one spot near the fleshy part of my hand that is bruised from my first thumb joint to my wrist.  It is the only spot that is still uncomfortable.

In the mean time, I was able to get my results from Scott and White.  All my blood work, except Ana is negative.  It is only 1:80 and speckled.  It has been much higher at different times.  The x-rays do show some degenerative changes in my hands and right knee (the only joints they x-rayed).  My vitamin D level is now too high to measure.  I am glad I appear to be healthy, but good grief, why can't I feel healthy?

Thanks Litli Wlowa,

Yes, I was supplementing because my level was 18.  I am scheduled to take a couple more 50,000 unts, but will skip that until I talk to a doctor.  My calcium is 8.9 with norms 8.6 to 10.1.  After reading up on high levels of vit D.  I am sure I don't have Vit D toxicity.

Somewhere on the forum there was a thread on Vit D.

Low levels have been researched in AI.

Abnormal vitamin D3 metabolism in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome.

It took several months for the pain of the EMG to go away in the carpal tunnel area. I would say that is what you are having pain from.

I'll never do one again. No way.
