Hi :)
I'm back - at least intermittently! Reading but still not typing too much. Four hour operation on arm feels like its been a success - and thank you for those who were asking!
I refused to have morphine for this op and felt much the better for not having it. It turned out that the bone couldn't heal because there was a bit of muscle stuck between the bits of bone that were meant to join up. Of course - it didn't show up on an x-ray. I now have a metal plate and several screws holding me together and can butter bread without it feeling really weird - which is good. Still wearing a sling and physical therapy begins on Tuesday.
I expected to feel like I did back last Autumn so was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not as painful as it was then and is also more useful. I didn't need a bone graft from the hip after all but they couldn't tell me that pre-surgery so it was great waking up and realising my hip was untouched!
I still have a tremor, which they haven't been able to explain so I am determined not to get 'signed off' before they have investigated it.
Am looking forward to physio and being able to properly use the arm again as its been a long, sore 8 months. It has given me something to guage pain with though. The hospital bed was so uncomfortable that the day after the op I was actually woken up with pain in my back rather than pain in my arm!!
Anyway - back in the land of the living now.
Take care - Scottie :)
That is wonderful news. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Scottie
It's lovely to see you back, and so chirpy too! I'm delighted for you.

Best news ever! Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress, and I'm glad to hear that things have finally turned around and you're on the mend.
Scottie, I sure glad that you are on the mend and that you are doing better than you expected. Also, it is great news that you didn't need the bone graft. It will be a better summer for you I am a-hoping. Good luck. Don't get too frisky, too soon though. Irish
Good to hear from you and glad you are on the mend. Thanks for the update. Wishing you well and a speedy recovery now, CK
What wonderful news Scottie :)
I'm so glad that your arm is on the mend and the pain hasn't been too bad. Interesting about the muscle being in the way, as we all know here, our bodies can do strange things.
Glad you're getting better and glad you're back. Lucy
Glad your back and hopefully in less pain!! Say can typing be part of your therapy?? LOL ;D
I am so thrilled to hear the great news! Heal properly, and quickly!

Oh Scottie, I am so glad that things went well. I too hope your summer is better than your past months. It all sounds very encouraging.
Thinking of You.

So glad to know that you are back on the boards with us. Sounds like this time they got it right.
I am now able to walk after going through home therapy. Doing aquatic therapy now and it is awesome. Maybe you can do that too.
Hang in there!

Wow Scottie!
Horrible to have it put together wrong the first time
WONDERFUL to have it FIXED, and now onwards and upwards.
Forward, anyway.
And yes, you have a new pain gauge, tho' I don't look forward to finding new gauges, myself!
However, perspective is all.
Keep us posted.

Oh, Scottie - I have been wondering about you lately - I am SO HAPPY to hear how things are going!!!!! ;D
I have a plate and 7 screws in my leg and usually forget they're there - sometimes for weeks at a time. It's AMAZING what they can do with a trip to the hardware store these days... :P
Best wishes for CONTINUED good luck and healing....
Yay! Thumbs up for that :)
I am glad you are feeling better.
Yeah!!! What an ordeal you've been through! Hope it continues to improve.
Hi Scottie,
I saw an arm xray on the TV last night and immediately thought of you.
How's the arm going??
Hopefully a month down the track your recovery is going well, you have gained strength and have no pain. :)
How did I miss this?
Honestly, I should go through every post it seems.
Scottie I'm over the MOON that is has gone better
Having had a piece of torn meniscus stuck in my knee joint, and I can only BEGIN to imagine a piece of muscle stuck in a place where your bones are supposed to mend!
Sounds scary and......
Don't want to go there, but.....
Glad it's better.
BUTTER THAT TOAST.

Glad it worked out for you, hoping your summer will be great! Cricket~
Wahoo!!! Great news... ;D Thanks for the update!
Scottie
I'm delighted to see your news. Hope you've enjoyed the sunshine for the past couple of days - can't believe how cold it has got again in West Yorkshire though.
