Just a bit of a whine here. We had a cruise scheduled plus another week in Fla. This was to start on Saturday. I bought cancellation insurance for both plane fare and the cruise. I was still in bed this morning (which I am normally in most of the day) and thinking about being in a plane for a few hours (no fresh air) and then landing in Orlando with 89+ temps.
I pictured myself standing on the tarmac (whatever that is) with my hubby someplace else and I would be unable to breathe and/or walk. I did this on my own, and he said whatever I wanted to do was ok with him. We can do this later or do something else. I just don't feel like I can manage away from home now, no less on a boat and plane.
I will probably regret doing this as I must have 100 papers to be filled out and drs signatures, blah, blah. I can't let this go because there is $2,000 involved. I just wanted y'all to know that I'm stuck just like the rest of you--in the north with cold, wet, crappy weather. :-)
Awwww, Lucy . . . I'm sorry - I know you were looking forward to getting away. :(
As much as you wanted to go, I wondered how you were going to feel on the trip as you just haven't been feeling well lately. I would hate to be so far from home when I'm not feeling good.
Good thing you got insurance for both the flight and the cruise.
Maybe, an alternative is to see if you can find another ugly chair for your house . . . or was that a couch you got? Hmmmm, now I can't remember which it was. :-\
Or . . . maybe a trip to the casino will cheer you up?
Hugs to you,
Bucky
I am sorry to hear that you had to cancel. The end of February to the middle of March was the month we used to spend in Florida. It was a nice break from winter. We would spend time in the theme parks, hot tubs, pools and try to sleep with the gator noise. My wave motion sickness put me off the thought of a cruise.
Then the grand kids came along and we did not get to Florida any more. With Sjogren's and my not being able to work, we lost all of our timeshare weeks. Now it is just staying in the north land with occasional trips to the Northwest coast to see our grand kids on Vancouver Island.
Find some warming activities that you can do at home. Go to a hotel and use the sauna or hot tub to warm up. The break can be good for your mental health.
Lucy,
I am so sorry, maybe you and the hubbie can go for a day trip to the spa together? At least out to dinner to celebrate 50 years. My thoughts are with you and I hope you get some answers soon. CK
So sorry Lucy...I know how you were looking forward to your vacation, but maybe its a good thing. I think with your health right now, very
risky to go on a cruise. Maybe a blessing in disguise. I hope you can do something else special. Im supposed to go see our Dr. B next week.
When do you see her now?
Gursie
Lucy
So sorry you had to cancel, know how much you were looking forward to it. Sounds like your hubby is a keeper! Hope you will be feeling a little better,
Cricket~
Lucy - on the news tonight, they talk about a Carnival cruise ship that was stuck in port and they had to fly everyone back home.
Plus . . . the next cruise that was to leave on Sat., March 16th was canceled. Was that the cruise you were suppose to be on?
<<Carnival canceled the ship's March 16 voyage and refunding those guests' tickets in full. Those travelers will also receive 25 percent off a future cruise and be able to purchase tickets at the same current rate.>>
With all the recent problems the Carnival cruise ship line has been having, I don't think you would find me taking a trip right now.
See how upset Carnival is . . . if Lucy isn't going to cruise with us . . . NOBODY is!! ;)
Bucky
Bucky, you can't believe how many ppl called or emailed me about that ship!! It was NOT the one we would have been on, but we were supposed to leave the same day the wounded ship was due to sail again.
Right now, I am having a time getting credit for cruise and airlines. I bought "cancellation insurance" on both and you would not believe the runaround I got. That's ok, the bank credit card dept will help with cancelling the charges to my card.
I believe if we plan another trip, it'll be with another cruiseline. We will go on another trip soon. We do a fair amound of "running" and going to a casino is something we (mostly me) enjoy. We even did that today for a couple of hours. Lucy
Lucy, I think you made a wise choice at this time in your life. You are feeling pretty lousy right now and I know that I could not make a trip in feeling like that. Hopefully the docs can get you feeling better and then you can have a better trip that you will enjoy more. Meanwhile stay home, safe, warm and with plumbing and water that work!!!!IRish
I saw a great comment on the whole Carnival debacle: "Surely, they can find an iceberg somewhere!"
Often the part of our brain that really knows what we need will speak up! I'm sorry you had to cancel, but part of you knew that it was the better decision.
Still very disappointing, though!
Hugs, Sharon
Lucy I am sorry too that you didn't get to make your trip, but it may have been for the best. Hope you feel better, and get what you need.
