HI Val, this is the 2nd month of taking turmeric.  My joints feel a little better, but there is no difference in the dryness, period, and I have dry, dry eyes (left one especially) and mouth.  Just my experience so far.

Valene,

I take a mixture of Tumeric/Bromelain that I buy online at Vitacost. Also, I just started taking Zyflamend, which has some Tumeric in it also.  I think the Tumeric has helped me. I am always asking myself which thing has helped?? Is it the supplements, or is it the Plaquenil, or both? I am not sure I will ever know for sure. I just know that my pain is much better than it was...so I will keep doing the same thing. Don't know about the Zyflamend yet, too soon. I saw some folks on here take Zyflamend & I bought some on Amazon. There were 348 raving reviews...so I started that. Fingers crossed (in a very light way)

Good Luck. I hope it helps!

Turmeric can make acid tabs such as Omeprazole (which I take for gerd) not be as effective. It can also interfere with diabetic drugs. So I would be careful.

Hi Valene,
I have been taking tumeric for about 10 months now on the reccomendation of my primary doctor. I noticed after a few months that my overall achiness improved and my hands and feet don't hurt as much.

I really noticed how much it was helping, when I ran out. After a week  without it the pain came roaring back. It did not however help with dryness. I use Gaia brand

I take it and wouldn't be without it!  I find it does help.  It thins the blood too a bit for me which is good because I'm Factor V positive.  I'm told it also helps deter cancer and I'm all about that!!

Try ginger for inflammation and thinning blood, less side effects. :) Im a great believer in using fresh garlic too in everything.

Be careful with garlic - it stimulates the immune system and can cause a flare of autoimmune diseases like Sjs and Lupus...

Darn it loved cooking with garlic  :( and thought it would help my circulation and heart not go like my mums.

I don't think that the amount of garlic people eat in food is going to make that much difference.  However, taking garlic supplements might cause a problem.

Yeah - I cook with garlic, too - I just try to limit how much. No more Garlic-Baked Chicken, etc...I just use a bit of it now and then to season things. And I'd never take a garlic supplement!

I had the same thing. No help with the dryness though except that I notice I can take less of other med that causes dry mouth as a side effect. So tumeric indirectly helps my dry mouth.

My husband is taking it and finds that it helps him. However, we just bought a bag of empty capsules, and got the spice in bulk cheap.
