Title: Do you have pain in the back of your mouth/jaw when you eat citrus fruits?
Post by: AAACGRL on January 22, 2013, 03:08:10 PM
Anytime lately that I have something with lemons or even just the vitamin c chewable tablets, there is pain back where the parotid glands are.  Does anyone else have this happen?

I have had this a few times not sure where the parotid gland is located. I also noticed the lining of my mouth was peeling around these times in the back of my mouth on both sides. I made sure i didn't drink or eat any acidic foods/drink etc and it eventually got better.

You might also be experiencing some pain. Any food that causes you to "pucker" will cause the salivary glands to spasm as they try to empty the glands. Pickels will do this as well as the citrus and fruits, vinegar, etc.

Actually, it is sort of good to eat some of this type of food off and on as it helps to stimulate the salivary glands and help them empty out and drain through the ducts. Irish

Only when I have a blockage in my parotid. Haven't had one in well over a year.
