What is a must have book for me? Thanks
'Unbroken', by Laura Hildebrand (a biography)
I have several Sjogren's books - I like them all.
The Sjogren's Handbook
The Sjogren's Syndrome Survival Guide
Positive Options for Sjogren's Syndrome
A Body Out of Balance
The Sjogren's Book by David Wallace. Lots of information and recent research. He also writes one of the major rheumatology textbooks for med students. Look for the 2011 edition.
Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't go last night I got lazy. Will try again today
The art of Shen Ku
Feeling Good
Acupressure ABC
Think and Grow Rich
Body Reflexology
I have to be very careful with book stores. I have had months where I have lost my whole paycheck in them.
I bought Sjogrens Syndrome Survival Guide and A Body Out of Balance. Both are excellent however Sjogrens Syndrome survival guide has been invaluable as a resource for my doctor who is learning about Sjogrens from me and her followup research.
Is there a Sjogren's syndrome for Dummies? Or an Idiot's guide to Sjogren's Syndrome? Because thats what I need! I dont understand all the medical lingo and I need an explanation for my 10 year old daughter.
Hi Cryssann - I don't believe I've met you yet. Welcome!
I have never heard of a Sjogren's for Dummies, but I Googled it and below is what came up. Since the link sells something (which is against our forum rules for posting), I will just put the address and you can go there and check it out if you are interested.

I hope you find the Sjogren's World forum site helpful to you as research ways to help your daughter. I'm sorry she is so young to have to deal with this disease.
Bucky
The Sjogrens Syndrome Survival Guide is easy to read and understand. It has been awesome for me and my local doctor who treats me in between Rheumatologist visits(my rheumy is 5 hours away and none closer).
For me, one of the best books I found was Sick and Tired of Feeling Sick and Tired - living with invisible chronic illness by Paul J. Donoghue, and Mary E. Siegle. It's not about sjogrens specifically, but it was really helpful about exploring what it feels like to have one of these illnesses, and how to cope. I still go back to it on bad days, when I need a reminder that other people are struggling too.
Both it, and this site help you not to feel alone. :). Hope that helps.
I read Life Interrupted: Getting Real About Chronic Illness in Your Twenties and Thirties by Laurie Edwards.
Not about sjogren's but an invaluable read for me. And there wasn't much about it specific to that age group, so I could recommend it for anyone.
I also read A Body Out of Balance but it didn't offer me anything I didn't already know.
Hello Bucky. Thank you for welcoming me to the site. I have founs everyone on the site very helpful and kind. At this point I am looking for help explaining this to my daughter. She asks me so many questions that I cannot answer and it makes me feel terrible. I had never heard of Sjogren's before her regular dr suggested an auto-immune. I have tried looking up info on it, but I don't understand all of the lingo. I spend more time looking up the words I don't understand than actually reading up on Sjogren's. I am hoping that eventually I will understand this well enough to put it into terms my 10 year old will understand. Thanks for all the info thus far!
