Title: Some times, you get good news at the doctors office
Post by: Bucky on January 16, 2013, 04:58:23 PM
Today, I had a follow up appointment with a cornea specialist at my Optho office.

I've been using Latanoprost drops once daily since Dec. 5 to help with the pressure in my eyes.  These drops are used for controlling the progression of glaucoma or ocular hypertension by reducing intraocular pressure.

Well, in the past six weeks my pressure numbers are going down . . yay!!, and he said I do NOT have glaucoma.  BIG YAY! (my mom had glaucoma).  So, I'm to continue using these drops daily and go back in four months for a check-up.

One of the possible side effects of these drops is they might cause the permanent darkening of your iris to brown (I have blue eyes).  One of the technicians who ran some tests prior to me seeing the doctor said, "If it was a choice between having pretty blue eyes (and you do) and not being able to see, or having brown eyes and being able to see . . . I'd take the brown eyes."  She's right . . . I'm hoping to keep my blue eyes, but if they turn brown, I will accept that and be grateful for my eyesight.

So, a little good news today!   :D

Bucky,
I'm so glad you don't have glaucoma!  Thanks for letting us know.

It would be strange for your eyes to change colors.  If that happens, we'll still love you.

Glad you are doing better. Are you going to have one brown and one blue eye just to confuse people?

Wasn't there a Crystal Gayle song, "Don't it make my brown eyes blue?" I vote for one of each!

Sharon, who loves her brown eyes...

Great to hear, Bucky!  My mother in law had glaucoma and macular degeneration and was miserable.  When you get any good news at the doc's office, it's a reason to celebrate nowdays!!!

Gee, thanks Joe . . . I hadn't EVEN thought of that!   :o

I'm hoping it doesn't happen at all . . . but, if it does, I'd much rather have a matching set than one of each.

That's good to hear Bucky! How weird the idea of eyes changing colour. They may not though!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Mrs Bucky - that's amazing news! I'm so pleased for you.

Now you have me wondering, if your eye drops can change your eye colour, and Plaquenil can change your hair colour, will we look like completely different people in a few years time?
