Well today I went to the Rheumy doctor and he confirmed today due to the blood work that I have Sjogren's. Such a relief to have confirmation. He also started me on treatment. He was gonna start me on plaquinel but since i am already experiencing hair loss he is holding off on that for awhile. He did however start me on voltaren and eye drops. I go back in four months. thanks to everyone who sent good thoughts and prayers to me today as i was nervous! I'm so glad that i found this group!
I'm glad to hear the good news!
Sharon
I'm so glad the appointment went well! :)
My rheumy wanted to put me on plaq because my hair is falling out. He thinks it might help. So confused?
Christian
If the hair loss is due to infammation plaquenil usually helps. It has helped mine.
Being disgnosed is a relief when you been searching for answers for a long time.
I am so glad to hear you got a diagnosis. It does help to have a name for what's going on.
Take Care

Glad you had a good appointment, and wishing you well . Try to get plenty of rest, if you can and not stress too much. At college, right? What year? Wishing you well in all you do. My daughter is a freshman biology major. CK
Having a dx finally is good news, McKorky! :)
Thanks everyone!

Oh to be that age again...any overseas internships? Spread your wings and fly.
Well, I hadn't really thought about Plaquenil helping the inflammation. Makes sense. I had huge hair loss and I was thinking the other day that for some reason it doesn't seem as bad lately. Maybe it is the plaquenil? I'm taking compounded Plaquenil (pure) as the other I couldn't tolerate. So far so good. I'm increasing it at 25mg increments. I'm at 125mg trying to get up to 200mg.
I hope now that you have a diagnosis you can get some relief. If your eyes are dry, I'd give Restasis a try!
Best
I have PCOS and Sjogrens as well--the hair loss was due to low iron/ferritin and the pcos. Dr. put me on spirolactone and metformin and I am on Plaquinel as well. Can't say enough good things about the meds. My hair is on its way back.
Happy for you!
Wow im sorry you have this on top of everything else, but at least you know now. This is the most frustrating illness, its constantly changing I never know what to expect. One day the top of my mouth is dry and my eyes on fire..the next my eyes are moist and my lower mouth is dry..and my feet and hands are tingling. How can it jump around so fast lol, its to the point I dont bother mentioning things to the doctor because they are here one minute gone the next.
no overseas internships for me. will just be staying in my home state of Ohio
I want to become a doctor!
Thanks to everyone else. I have dealt with high blood pressure for 7 years and PCOS for 5 years. This is just another thing added on top to be unique I guess!!!
Hope everyone else is doing well.
McKorky----I am glad you have a diagnosis. That makes things easier as you no longer have to feel that the docs don't believe you. I was told by one local rheumy that there was nothing wrong with me and I later realized he didn't run enough blood tests to tell. He said he was "trying to save money." Well I went to a University Hospital within two weeks and was diagnosed with positive bloodwork. I was relieved.
Good luck with your college studies. Lucy
Good luck with everything.. wishing you the best. Go be the best doc out there. You can do it. CK

Thank you so much! it means a lot. Many people have told me that I will never make it through college because of this illness.. but I plan on proving them wrong!!!
Hi McKorky,
First let me welcome you to the forum, since I've not done that, so "Welcome!" ;)
I'm glad to hear you have a diagnosis; it really makes us feel validated in what we already know. Sounds like you have a good doc to talk over things with. That is so important to us all.
And best luck to you in school. As a Buckeye myself, I think Ohio has some of the best medical schools in the country. I know you will prove them wrong. You'll do great and I can see you becoming one of those wonderful doctors who understand their patients because you've been there!
I look forward to hearing more from you-please keep updating us. Again, welcome. We're glad to have you as part of our little troup who encourage and support one another through it all. :)
Melinda
Well don't let those people get you down! I ,for one, am pulling for you. I look forward to following your progress and will be proud when you graduate. I will tell you like I tell my children, there is nothing you cannot accomplish when you put your mind and determination behind it. Now go get what you want girl!CK
McKorky
I agree with Melinda and CK, you show them what you are about. And it would be wonderful if you could become a Sjogren's specialist - in fact, maybe we should have a whipround to fund your studies :)

Glad you got a diagnosis. I have always said if I know about it, I can deal with it. It's the unknown that is always scary.
Remember, everyone is always here for support when you need it. Hang it there!!
